If sil is Gemma then surely it doesn't really matter whether you spell it with a g or a j it's still the same name. If you like the name spell it with a g or she'll forever be correcting people on it. Have you considered Jenna?

I have a colleague who is Jemma and it feels wrong every time I have to type it.

My SIL is always asked if it is spelt with a G or a J, so it's pretty popular with a J
