Jude or Arthur

These are our top choice boys names for babe due in the new year, and we're struggling to choose between them. We love them both and will use whichever one we don't choose for a middle name anyway.

I think I slightly prefer Jude, particularly as it seems to be less common, but interested to hear others thoughts.

Jude Arthur
Or
Arthur Jude

Love Jude. Would have been my first choice if I'd had a son. Unfortunately my DP hates it and I had girls. Arthur is ok.

Sophronia · 03/12/2015 23:24

Arthur Jude

PeasinPod1 · 04/12/2015 09:46

JUDE!!!! Such a great name, Arthur rather stiff and old fashioned.

I love the name Jude but think Arthur Jude flows better..... depends what it sounds like with your surname though.

BondJayneBond · 05/12/2015 15:32

I love Jude.

I love both - which goes better with your surname?

ScarlettDarling · 06/12/2015 08:58

Jude is lovely but Arthur to me sounds like a grumpy old man, so I'd go for Jude Arthur...no one ever uses their Middle name so it really doesn't matter how it flows.

Raxacoricofallapatorius · 06/12/2015 08:59

They're both popular atm but in different ways. Jude has sprung from nowhere and leapt up the charts and Arthur is part of the old man name revival. I don't think either is unusual right now. I know several under 5, both names. Jude has become unisex if that bothers you. My niece and a friend's dd are both Jude.

Arthur Jude flows better if that makes a difference?

Wishful80smontage · 06/12/2015 09:00

AWhistlingWoman · 06/12/2015 09:12

I love them both. Slightly leaning more towards Arthur Jude?

DiscoDiva70 · 06/12/2015 09:19

Jude Arthur by a mile!

Love Jude but dislike Arthur, but middle names are rarely used anyway.

Also, people may try and shorten Arthur to Art/Artie but Jude can't be shortened.

villainousbroodmare · 06/12/2015 09:30

Both lovely names which to me have a very different feel.
I think you'll have to wait until the baby arrives to see what suits.
Agree that middle names remain unused generally, so flow is less important than you'd think.

RiverTam · 06/12/2015 09:40

Arthur Jude. But I don't like either name tbh!

ijustwannadance · 06/12/2015 09:44

Jude is very very popular at the moment. Bit like Noah.
I prefer Arthur.
