April for a June baby?

LucilleLeSueur · 02/12/2015 21:36

Just found out that DC3 is another DD.
We used up the only four girls' names that we love on DD1 and 2. Damn our lack of foresight!

The only other name we both love is April. DH thinks it's absolutely fine, and that it would be cheesy to use April for an actual April baby. He says it's a name in its own right.

I can't quite get past the date thing. Please may I have a MN consensus?

I'm with you, and think it would be weird.

chipsandpeas · 02/12/2015 21:55

i would assume april born

Coral2094 · 02/12/2015 22:06

I'm with your DH - I think it's slightly cheesey for an April baby!

I really like the name, I think it's usable whichever month the baby is born in :)

celtictoast · 02/12/2015 22:41

I think it's fine for any month of the year.

LucilleLeSueur · 03/12/2015 06:24

Thank you - interesting that we're still split straight down the middle. I'm pleasantly surprised at that - maybe this will be doable!

I didn't mean to dripfeed but April has a lot of meaning for us as a family (a few family birthdays and our wedding anniversary) so DH reckons we can tell people that if they ask.

I think you can do what you like, but you could also consider Avril?

TheNewStatesman · 03/12/2015 11:59

I prefer Avril but either is fine at any time of year!

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 03/12/2015 12:07

I think it's a pretty name. Makes me think of spring flowers and fluffy lambs!
Agree with cheesy for being born in April!

And there is no guarantee she won't be early!

Lweji · 03/12/2015 12:08

She could be called June, but I think that would be cheesy indeed.

I wouldn't think it was an April baby.

LucilleLeSueur · 03/12/2015 12:08

Avril is out I'm afraid - don't really like it, and it's the name of a family member (we try to avoid all family connections).

I was just genuinely curious about whether people would think it was weird to use it for a non-April baby. I'm feeling reassured!

Not weird at all. I think of April as being a pretty name in its own right, rather than being linked to the month if that makes sense.

Darcourse · 03/12/2015 22:02

I know an April born in March. When I met her I thought 'she must have come early' Smile

mathanxiety · 04/12/2015 03:18

NNs for the Aprils I know include Ape. If you're not worried about that then I don't see any issue calling a June baby April. I know some Junes who are not born in June and of course May doesn't mean you were born in May..

Lweji · 04/12/2015 03:24

We are all apes, so there's a good come back from there.
😆

LucilleLeSueur · 04/12/2015 06:22

Not too worried about Ape 🙈🙉🙊😄

I know a few Aprils and none of them are shortened which is one of the things I like about it!

I think its fine, April is a lovely name regardless of when the baby is born!

myotherusernameisbetter · 04/12/2015 22:23

I know a June that was born in April :)

Blahia · 05/12/2015 22:05

Completely fine!

grumpypenguin · 18/12/2015 13:51

I know an April who was born at Christmas time. The month April was named after Aphrodite so it's not like the month is the original source if you see what I mean.

DPotter · 18/12/2015 13:57

I knew a child who had the name of one season but was born in another - lovely child and name irritated me no end
