Gabriella or Ella?

DP and I, love Gabriella - I would like to NN her Ella/Elle, but we both think it will end up being Gabby/Gabs and I don't love that! So, my question is, should we just name her Ella? (I don't mind Gabby/Gabs)

I like both.

I love Gabriella and like both Ella and Gabby. I think if you are clear with friends and family at the outset that they either call her Gabriella or Ella that will be fine. All of mine are called by short forms which i did as a 'Introducing Gabriella 'Ella' Mary Jones' format so everyone knew what name to use as their long-forms have a few short-forms.

The only problem is that as they get older they may well want to choose their own!

Yeah, when she gets older, it's her choice - I'll probably go with Gabriella and say that they should use Ella for short :)

Gabriella is lovely, I also like Gaby.

I find Ella very overused and don't like it very much.

I know Ella is used a lot, but I have yet to come across one! Also, she would be Gabriella most of the time - I think it's decided! :)

Just call her Ella. That's the pretty part of the name Gabriella.

I have a Gabriella but we call her Bella, mainly because we wanted the Bella but didn't want Isabella as I don't like Izzy and didn't want her to be called Izzy. I haven't me any othe Bella's but plenty of Ella's and Isabella's.

(So go with Gabriella....but I'm biased, I love the name!)

I love Gabriella, I have an Isabella and if id have thought on, she might well have been Gabriella.

Gabriella is beautiful. Ella I find a little dull.

Gabriella nn GiGi - this is my niece's nickname, DSis didn't like Gabby.

Love the name, definitely use it.
