I like Christian the most - sounds strong and Classic.

Don't like Dylan - bit chavvy

Cai makes me think of the rooneys.

Stefan - don't like at all sorry. Sounds a bit Spanish?

Finn is ok but doesn't sound very serious. More like a toddler name.

A Danish name I love is Carsten...a bit like your Tristan etc

hobitty · 02/12/2015 12:14

Tristan is too 'sad' due to the meaning triste.

Dylan is nice.

Stefan is ok but might have to always spell it out.

I really like Christian and Quentin or how about Finnian?

casey101 · 04/12/2015 00:13

Thanks all. Like Carsten but too similar to last name. Elis1905 is Dylan considered chavvy I didnt know this??

I know in Wales Dylan is considered a classic welsh name maybe different in england/ elsewhere?

Love Dylan and Finn Smile

ktmummy1 · 04/12/2015 06:40

I like Dylan best.

Have you considered Iwan, Rhys, Tomos, Dewi, Dyfan, Idris, Harri??

casey101 · 05/12/2015 00:34

Thanks all. Thanks Bluesicles. I like Finn and then I read something negative eg about the 'fish' connotation or that it's not like a proper name and it puts me off guess if i was 100% sure nothing would put me off but who knows? thanks ktmummy1. I did consider Idris thats the only one of the above i would like but went off it!

thanks hobbity. I did consider finnian but- like christian- thought it might sound odd with 2 syllable last name ending in the letter 'n'. wondering if finn might sound odd for same reason.

Dylan is my favourite, I don't think it's chavvy at all!
I love Finn too.

I don't understand Stefan with one f in Wales though - surely you'll end up with people pronouncing it Stevan?

leaningtoweroflego · 05/12/2015 00:43

Love Idris by the way! Such a beautiful name!

ohhelpohnoitsa · 05/12/2015 20:02

Are you any closer to choosing? I am in England and Dylan is not perceived as chavvy around here at all. May be it is different in different areas. It isnt a common name (popular I mean) but is used by naice people and quite a few naice Sikh families too.

casey101 · 05/12/2015 23:23

thanks all. leaningtower i prefer the spelling with one f but yes in wales it would technically be pronounced stevan. No closer. Maybe narrowed down to Finn or Dylan quite like Theo/ Theodore too but not welsh

OP posts:
ktmummy1 · 06/12/2015 04:57

I heard someone call their child Theodore in a shop tg other day- all I could think was Alvin Simon and theodore (chipmunks) it just sounded awful

Domino777 · 06/12/2015 07:45

Theodore is stunning.

Laquila · 06/12/2015 07:50

I love Gwilym but no-one else ever does! From your list I think my pref is Tristan. I also like Idris - if there was a good nn/shortening for that I'd maybe use it myself for my next one due in Feb.

Not Welsh but you might also like Gabriel and Laurie?

Jw35 · 06/12/2015 07:53

Dylan. Super cute!

casey101 · 06/12/2015 15:29

Thanks all really mixed about Theodore feel like it has a lot of possibilities eg the name itself being a classic with options for theo which sounds kind of cool or ted/ teddy which is cute but just not loving it. I like Laurie but feel it's a bit girle Laquila
