DH has just decided this is his new favourite girls name. Any thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RiverTam · 24/11/2015 20:59

My first thought was that it's a boy's name.

It's OK. Doesn't really float my boat but it's alright.

Lweji · 24/11/2015 20:59

It doesn't sound too bad, actually, but I hope your surname is not Davidson. Grin

Still, it evokes the motorbikes and Harley Street, so, I wouldn't

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 24/11/2015 21:00

The only Harley I know is a boy

LilacSpunkMonkey · 24/11/2015 21:04

It's a boys name.

I've met a few. All boys.

Oh, and a dog.

AuntieStella · 24/11/2015 21:06

Motorbike.

Of course, that might be exactly the association DH wants.

Amazemedontbeacunt · 24/11/2015 21:07

I've only ever known girls called Harley, I like it Smile

hawaiibaby · 24/11/2015 21:29

I'm not keen at all. Not keen on it as a boys name let alone a girls. There are SO many lovely girls names - Harley isn't one of them!

GothJoose · 24/11/2015 21:30

I've just posted on your other op.

I know a male and female Harley but statistically it's more popular for boys

GothJoose · 24/11/2015 21:32

45th most popular boys name in 2014

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 24/11/2015 21:32

My son is Harley.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 24/11/2015 21:34

What about halle/halli? for a girl?

vestandknickers · 24/11/2015 21:34

I think it's awful, but I hate all made up/surname type names.

BabCNesbitt · 24/11/2015 21:42

If you were in the US, it'd be fine. Here it just sounds a bit naff.

ThisWillSoOutMe · 24/11/2015 21:44

My cat is called Harley. Harley is a boy cat.

😸

Jw35 · 24/11/2015 21:48

I know someone called Harley she's married to my cousin. She's a bit punky and loud.

I love motorbikes but I prefer more traditional names myself

Sophronia · 24/11/2015 22:19

I know a female Harleigh and a male Harley-Ray. Don't like it.

Tartyflette · 24/11/2015 22:28

And hope your surname isn't Quinn, either. ....and for a girl it will continually be confused with/misspelt Hayley.

Roomba · 24/11/2015 22:34

It's nice, but I do see it as a boy's name.

TBH the only Harley I know is a black labrador, so I see it even more as a dog's name - sorry!

pieceofpurplesky · 24/11/2015 22:43

It's great for a boy. I have taught a few and all have been quite cool and quirky. But all boys

manicinsomniac · 24/11/2015 22:51

I think it's unisex.

I like it. I guess you could spell it Harleigh to avoid gender confusion but it looks a bit awkward like that

PaulAnkaTheDog · 25/11/2015 09:46

Let me guess, Quinn as a middle name? It's a boys name to me, only ever heard of the DC character as an instance of it being female.

strawberryandaflake · 25/11/2015 14:54

No. Just no.

Lozza1990 · 25/11/2015 14:56

I like it as a boys name but not girls! DS would have been Harley but my cousin beat me to it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/11/2015 14:57

It's a boys name. And no. For a boy or girl.

MiddleAgeMiddleEngland · 25/11/2015 20:09

Sorry, no, I don't like it. Too motorbikey for me. And I've only met boy Harley's so I don't associate it with girls at all.

For both boys and girls I think it will age badly.
