We're still struggling to find a name for dd3.
We like Lydia but worried it's becoming popular?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Salmotrutta · 20/11/2015 19:46

I love Lydia - and I haven't heard of any in many a year.

But that might be because Im in Scotland?

Hygellig · 20/11/2015 19:48

I quite like the name. I have only met one adult called Lydia (in her early 40s) and one baby Lydia (who must be about three now) so I don't think it's very common.

Owllady · 20/11/2015 19:49

It's a lovely name

bunique · 20/11/2015 19:52

Love it - friends of ours have a Lydia and she is one of the most fabulous children I have ever met!

goldglittershitter · 20/11/2015 19:53

Nice Smile .

SydneyCarton · 20/11/2015 19:54

I have an 18-month old Lydia and haven't met any others yet. I think it was 90-something odd in the top 100 baby names for last year so not wildly popular, but not so obscure no one's ever heard of it Smile

Sleepingtom · 20/11/2015 19:55

Lovely and a timeless classic.

MrsHathaway · 20/11/2015 20:08

Lovely and I know only one under ten.

What does your Lydia get for short? If anything

I've got a 2 year old Lydia, only met one other child with the name in my area and she was a few years older.

Moondancer146 · 20/11/2015 21:04

My 18 month old is called Lydia :) I picked it especially because it was the least popular of the names I liked and so far haven't met another in our area

dimdommilpot · 20/11/2015 21:27

A super name biased
I friend growing was Lydia. I now know of 3 (including DD2) in the local area age 4 and under. Does it matter if its popular?

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 20/11/2015 21:32

I loved it but dh was having NONE of it, not even when the midwife who delivered her had the same name

I wish I had stuck to my guns, but it is her middle name.

His main objection was the song about Lydia The Tattooed Lady.

SydneyCarton · 20/11/2015 21:52

Beautifulstars We call her Lyddy or Lyds for short, usually Lyddy Smile

AliciaMayEmory · 20/11/2015 21:56

I love the name Lydia! Was on my list for DC2, but he turned out to be a boy!

Allalonenow · 20/11/2015 22:03

It's a lovely name, I don't think it's too popular or over frequently used.

ashesandfire · 20/11/2015 22:32

I love it and don't think it's popular.

BikeRunSki · 20/11/2015 22:34

I only know one, but she's 3.

Sleeplessme · 20/11/2015 22:38

Really lovely. Don't know of any around here young or old so wouldn't say it's popular at all.

ostrichneck · 23/11/2015 14:01

I am never usually one to write negative comments but DH LOVED this name, I kind of liked it. When I went out for opinions, 3 people said to me they'd be careful as it rhymes perfectly with a very nasty STD and would be vary of horrible teenage years!

Completely put us both off!!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 23/11/2015 14:31

I second what Ostrich neck says. But it's a lovely name.
However that said lots or names rhyme with Negative or even just funny works
Jack -Jack's on crack
Ellie/ Kellie Smelly
I have a Molly, which ryhmes with trolley- Mollys off her trolley. Her name has never been an issue
My mum was Pat she never incurred and Pat the t**t, but then in her generation Pat was like the Lily-Mae of her day. Everyone was named Pat.

I've never heard of any of these names being teased. And I do personally know children with these names.
So On the Whole I'd go for Lydia.

Pandora97 · 23/11/2015 15:53

There are lots of names that rhyme with things. Like Charlotte the Harlot for instance but Charlotte is still very popular. I wouldn't let that put me off Lydia. I did suggest Lydia to my sister once when she was pregnant with my niece. She made a face then said, "Lydia Dustbin." I can never use Lydia now as I know my sister will always be mentally adding dustbin after it. Grin

I think Lydia's a lovely name and only know one in her late 20s. I don't know any children called it at all and don't think it's up there with Ava, Isabel etc. in terms of popularity. I'd go for it.

pilates · 23/11/2015 16:15

I like it. I only know two, one is 14 and one is 11.

GothJoose · 23/11/2015 16:16

Love it!

villainousbroodmare · 23/11/2015 18:36

I like it, only know one, who's in her 20s and a beautiful and funny girl.
