Quite like Lachlan with the A spelling, not keen on Fletcher it's a surname to me.

Lochlan

Lochlan is lovely. Not so keen on fletcher but it's okay Smile

Honestly?

Fletcher makes me think of the TV programme Porridge!

Lochlan- too like lochia, is that what they call the yellow bleeding stuff post birth?

Lachlan- best of the lot!

Lochlan always makes me think of lochia. Lachlan I love.

Fletcher I dislike.

I really like Fletcher!!! I think it's cool, cute and handsome! I'm not a fan of Lochlan/Lachlan though, but I think that's because I know a 'dodgey' one!

Is Lochlan a name? I know Lauchlan and Lachlan. I prefer it to Fletcher though.

Don't wish to be impolite and you aked for straightforward opinions:

As previous posters have said, the usual modern Scottish - and English - spelling is Lachlan or occasionally Lauchlan. The pronounciation is 'LOCH-lann' with a very definite Scottish 'ch' in the middle.

Lachlann ( Scottish Gaelic spelling) means 'from the land of the lochs'. The traditional nickname is Lochie or sometimes Lachie.

The Irish Gaelic version is - I believe - Lochlainn. But Irish Mumsnetters will know better than me and can correct the spelling if need be.

To me, Fletcher says 'arrow-maker' (its original meaning) or reminds me of Ronnie Barker in the classic old sitcom Porridge.

Lachlan is ok. Fletcher is awful.

woollyandtig · 16/11/2015 20:22

florascotianew Thank you for that have found any diffrent spellings of lachlan . I particularly like Lachlann now :D . Pronunciation shouldn't be a problem we are Scottish .
Fletcher is one I'm not convinced on but husband loves it .
