OH and I cannot make our minds up and wondered if you could give us:

A) vote for your preference; and
B) Let us know what you associate the name with?

Do please say if any are too 2015?

Boys
Hugh
Sebastian
Logan
Jasper

Girls
Amelie (but would be a Millie)
Sophie
Verity

If you have any other names that you think would be fitting and is along the lines of the above that would be fab!

Hugh and Sophie. Lovely and classic, not OTT or "too 2015".

MoreChilliPlease · 12/11/2015 09:25

We are considering Hugh, Sebastien and Jasper as names too; can't decide which is my favourite but definitely one of these three. There seem to be a lot of Logans these days so I'd steer clear, although a friend chose it for her little boy and it suits him. :)

I like Amelie but it's quite similar to Amelia which is very popular at the moment - do like Millie as a nn though.

Sophie is sweet enough but doesn't particularly stand out in my opinion.

Verity is the choice I like best out of your girl's names; it's unusual and classical at the same time. Would she have a nn?

thewookieswife · 12/11/2015 09:25

Logan and Verity !

MoreChilliPlease · 12/11/2015 09:26

*Sebastian - sorry, my phone changed the spelling for some bizarre, unknown reason.

honeysucklejasmine · 12/11/2015 09:27

Difficult but I think Hugh and Verity. Be ause they are both classic but relatively rare. I don't know any horrible people with those names either!

Second would be Jasper and Sophie.

Llouh · 12/11/2015 09:28

I love the name Hugh. Definitely not too 2015, and it's my DS middle name so maybe biased. Wink

All of your girls names are gorgeous. Sophie is fab and timeless, but so are the others.

OlafLovesAnna · 12/11/2015 10:00

I have a Hugh, he's junior school age though. We've only come across 1 other at a sports match but he was a Welsh Huw.

I still love it, it's unusual but not crazy, and it has suited all ages so far!

The only thing DS found tricky was that it can be difficult for 4/5 yr olds to 'hear' properly and he got a bit hacked off in yr R that a few kids called him Q!

OlafLovesAnna · 12/11/2015 10:01

And I prefer Verity from your list too!

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 12/11/2015 11:03

I like Hugh but find it a bit weird to say. You sort of have to go SCHugh in the back of your throat in order to get a strong H. Unless that's just me being a weirdo probably

Favourites are Jasper and Sophie. Too many Amelie's around atm.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/11/2015 11:11

Sebastian and Sophie

Love these, they jump out at me brcause I don't like the others.

molyholy · 12/11/2015 11:12

Sorry, but the only thing I associate Verity with is Verity Treacle who was a Kenny Everett character that always had her legs spread Shock

Hugh and Sophie are nice.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 12/11/2015 11:17

They're all perfectly acceptable, well known names. They're not my sort of name - just different tastes - but I don't think you'd go far wrong with any of them.

Only thing that did stand out, is that I see them as a 'type' of name (classic, fairly popular, recognisable, perhaps slightly middle class in leaning) except for Logan which sounds a bit more like an American surname influenced name (though I know it's not really). I'd expect Logan to appear in a list with Harvey, Tyler, Harrison and similar. It seems to stand out in that sense. Not really important but it's just if you like names with a certain 'vibe', I don't think Logan fits the same vibe as the others iyswim.

Difficultchoice · 12/11/2015 11:17

Sebastian is my fav, then Hugh. Not keen on jasper. Logan is v downmarket.

Sophie is ok
Amelie is nicer
Verity ....not sure, it's a grower

Sophronia · 12/11/2015 12:05

Hugh and Sophie

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 12/11/2015 12:09

Sebastian and Sophie

AmyC86 · 12/11/2015 12:13

Hugh - Hugh Grant, soppy floppy haired quintessentially English man.
Sebastian - The hermit crab from The Little Mermaid.
Logan - Doesn't remind me of anyone famous, i would say that this name is the most common out of the short list.
Jasper - Regal. Reminds me of Jasper Carrott. However, love this name & have it on a shortlist myself. It does kinda reminds me of a pets name though Blush

Girls
Amelie (but would be a Millie) - Why not just call her Millie in the first place? I like Millie. - Have you considered Millicent?
Sophie - Very very popular name, it's at least in the top 20 baby names of 2015. Also, there's a cartoon called Sophia at the moment.
Verity - Nice name, but isn't it one of those names which is a bit dated at the moment, like the female equivalent to Brian? For example, most middle aged people born mid 60s. People's aunts will be called Verity.

Hope this isn't too blunt Blush hope ive given some good advice.

Minimaus · 12/11/2015 15:47

I like Hugh, Jasper and Verity.

Don't like the nicknames of Sebastian (Seb/Sebbie/Basty) and Logan sounds very American. Millie and Sophie are SOOO overused imo.

Sunshine511 · 12/11/2015 17:34

Sophie is more popular than Amelie, both gorgeous names but since Amelie is not as popular, that gets my vote Smile Verity isn't really my cup of tea but its a nice enough name.

My favourite from your boys list is definitely jasper Smile

AuntGertrude · 12/11/2015 18:44

Hugh and Verity

OnePlanOnHouzz · 12/11/2015 19:09

Oh just heard this one ... Dulcie ( for a girl. ) thought it was cute !

RiverTam · 12/11/2015 19:10

Hugh

Don't like any of your girls' names really. Sophie at a push.

IoraRua · 12/11/2015 19:13

Verity and Logan are my faves from your list.

Jasper is nice too.
Sebastian...a bit overused, I've met a few.
Hugh is ok but just not up there with the others.

Sophie zzz, no, overused.
Amelie - ditto. And the same for Milly, oodles of Millys and Mollys and Lilys!

ashesandfire · 12/11/2015 22:25

I love Sophie and Sebastian.
Amelie is very 2014/5 IMO.

Wishsicles · 12/11/2015 22:43

Logan and Sophie :)

Bodicea · 12/11/2015 22:43

I like jasper and verity.
Sebastian v common. Amelie is to. Logan sounds v American.
