I've posted before about possible boys names and I'm now down to 2 that I think we would be happy with! There are an abundance of girls names that we love but we really seem to struggle with boys names. So it's between

Theodore Hughes
OR
Rory Hughes

We're both Scottish living in England. We already have a daughter called Keira which is a Gaelic name, as is Rory.

Any opinions and advice much appreciated Smile x

Would Theodore be shortened to Ted? Wouldn't want to name my child Ted Hughes.

I'll say Rory. All Rorys I know are very cute little baby boys!

I'd say Rory. I think it goes better with Keira and there are a lot of Theodore/Theo/Ted/Teddy's around at the moment (although that may not bother you).

scatterthenuns · 02/11/2015 18:43

I hate Theodore.

MamaLazarou · 02/11/2015 18:45

I like both Rory and Theodore.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/11/2015 18:45

Rory Hughes

Finola1step · 02/11/2015 18:46

Theo rather than Theodore.

Not keen on either, but I think Rory goes better with Keira.

SoupDragon · 02/11/2015 19:01

Rory.

IoraRua · 02/11/2015 19:02

Rory. Too many Theos and I just don't see the appeal!

SevenOhTwo · 02/11/2015 19:26

I like Rory best, but if you're thinking of moving back to Scotland at any point in the near future and you don't like using names too much in use then beware - there are loads of them up here! Bit less common in England I think.

Theo is nice, but Theo Hughes is a little awkward and I think avoiding Ted Hughes is a good point

Thank you so much for the advice ladies! I'd say so far, Rory seems to be the favourite with you all. Very valid point on Ted Hughes, being a possible issue. Also, I stupidly didn't think of the fact Rory would be a lot more common if we do return to Scotland. Trouble is, there are very few names dh and I can agree on and many of the ones we do like, we have good reason that we can't use them! Thank you very much, your advice has been very helpful Smile
