Blake for a boy?

Thoughts on Blake please. It would be for a baby boy

I like that it sounds a bit unisex but worry that it sounds a bit too American jock or like something from an 80s romance novel if you know what I mean.

Might be irrelevant anyway as DP thinks it sounds chavvy. Does it?

Imo Blake is a boys name - I find it strange on a girl.

The only little Blakes I know are from families which are at the chav end of the social scale I'm afraid but I think it's a nice nare. I always think of it as Australian as there was a character called Blake in home & away.

My dd has a name which is generally on the 'only heard on mumsnet' list but other people think is a bit chav. It's hard to win that battle!

Have a look at the 'make me love....' thread, same name and gender.

It's fine as a name. Doesn't really wow me but unusual and nothing wrong with it.

I don't see it as a 'chav' name at all. There is one in DS's year group at his not even remotely chavvy prep school. I quite like it.

Not met any in RL
Reminds me of Amy Winehouse's ex husband

Always reminds me of Blake's Seven - long gone Sci Fi series.

I used to know one who was delightful, and not remotely chavvy. Was on my shortlist, but DH has vetoed.

I really like it! :) I would use it as a middle name, but it's just as cute for a first name - go for it x
