Third child is three weeks now - is he destined to always be known as 'dd, er ds, er I mean ds2'?

Dh calls our 3 Willard

My name is Willard
This is my brother Willard
This is my other brother Willard Grin

I'm still calling my new 'she' a 'he'. I would have hoped to be clear on at least the sex by now.

Chopsychops · 31/10/2015 08:46

I have 4 sisters (my poor dad, even the dog was a girl!) and I'm the youngest.
My
Mum goes through all 4 and the current and deceased family pets before arriving at mine.
I am 40. It's hilarious every time!

itallsucks · 31/10/2015 08:52

I have 3 boys, male dog and dh and all 5 of them get called each others names all the time, they all think it's funny and take great delight in taking the mickey out of me lol

When I shout at the dog for getting under I feet I always call him DD2s name. I think I need to watch how much I shout at DD2 her name seems to be ingrained in my shouty voice.

Grin bunty

Off topic but I had a similar situation. I had called up the GP to make an appointment for DS' when he was only a week old.

Receptionist: Ok, and what's his date of birth?
Me: err...

I'm am only child, and I'm 37. My mum still calls me by her dogs' names occasionally.

whitelisbon · 31/10/2015 09:25

I've got 4 kids, 2 cats, and dc5 is due in March.
Last night I went through 3 kids, 1 dh, 2 cats and one friends name before I got to poor old dd1. She's so used to it she waited patiently till I got to her name, and then answered, probably while doing an inner eye-roll.

Buttercup27 · 31/10/2015 09:28

My Nan had 18 grandchildren and we often got called most of the names until she found the right one.

My Ddad still calls me my Dsis name and I'm 28.

pizzaeatingmonkey · 31/10/2015 11:15

I'm an only child, my son is an only child and I had to wait until he was 39 before he had my only grand child...so why do I call her by the cat's name? {thlconfused}

Crazypetlady · 31/10/2015 15:20

I will say
"I will go and get your bottle Rover "(Not my dogs name)
When I am trying to talk to ds
I also say to the dog "Do you want to go for a wee ds"

Will never change

Crazypetlady · 31/10/2015 15:21

I have quite a few pets too hence the name so when I am telling one of them off for being naughty which is often, I go through all the names until I reach the correct pet.

RoganJosh · 31/10/2015 15:24

Our youngest was called 'the other one' for a while. Now they all get called Bob.

DraculasDixieNormas · 31/10/2015 15:24

I still do this and ds1 is 20

DraculasDixieNormas · 31/10/2015 15:26

and I always do the pause before birth date thing, 3 of the 4 are in the same month though

SmashleyHop · 31/10/2015 15:27

It's not so bad. My SIL and I are constantly being called by each others names.. by our own husbands even! We don't even look like each other. Frankly I doubt if we switched husbands (set of brothers) they would even notice- or care!

CuteAsaF0x · 31/10/2015 15:29

No "errr?" from me.

I know exactly what you mean! DC! took years to match her name. Her father chose it.
