Brother for Joshua

Both Arthur and George are strong contenders, but I am not sure they go well with Joshua.

Does George involve too many J sounds? (Dad has a J name too)

Does Arthur sound too alike with its similar ending? Does it feel like a different 'type' of name (a bit old man, while Joshua feels quite timeless)

Am I over thinking?!

What names do you think go well with Joshua?

My first thought was Daniel. I don't think Arthur is an obvious one with Joshua, but they're individuals, so you won't always be calling them together. I think the two 'a's would run into each other. I also don't think GEORGE goes too well with the g j sounds, but again, you should pick the names you really like the sound of.

I like Arthur and George. I think they are both fine with Joshua.

Other suggestions: -

Lucas
Dylan
Albert / Albie
Caleb

I've a Joshua and an Oliver!

I love George and Arthur but don't think they're the same "type" of name as Joshua.

I think -

Robert
Alexander
Daniel
Benjamin
Andrew

LynetteScavo · 28/10/2015 21:26

Jacob.

I think there's too much J sound with Joshua plus George. Arthur goes quite well though.

Alfred
Charles
William
Callum
Ethan

Samuel? I think it sounds lovely with Joshua Smile

timelytess · 29/10/2015 08:12

James or George.

Arthur if you must, or Alfred.

But I'd go for the biblical James, with the biblical Joshua.

Isaac
Matthew
Samuel

My nephews are George and Joshua, and I think they work well together.

I would go with a name that can obviously be shortened (Joshua - Josh)
~ Matthew - Matt
~ Benjamin - Ben
~ Zachary - Zach
~ Joseph - Joe
~ Thomas - Tom

  • lots more!

How about Noah?

I was at a real loss there trying to work out how Arthur and Joshua had similar endings Grin (am Irish).
I do think George is too similar with the J sound.

Christian
Dominic
Damian
Edward
Nathan
Thomas
Lionel
Frederick
William

I think the above sound nice with Joshua.
