Match a first name with a middle name!

At 24 weeks we are just starting to think seriously about names. We are team yellow, and want to have a couple of names of each sex picked out and then fit the name to the baby once she/he is here. We've got the boy's names pretty sorted- Edward or Arthur Thomas (Thomas is the name of my much-loved Granddad). Our last name is close enough to "Davids" as makes no difference. So for a boy it'll be (depending on which fits best when the baby is here) either:

Edward Thomas Davids
or
Arthur Thomas Davids

But the girls names are a whole different kettle of fish!

First name ideas:
Jennifer
Catrin (the Welsh form of Catherine)
Eleanor
Ruth
Elizabeth

Middle name ideas:
Rose
Ffion (the Welsh word for Foxglove)
Violet
Lucy

We live in Wales and DH is Welsh (hence the Welsh names). I have a flower name as my middle name, so that's why 3 of the 4 middle names are flowers. Can you tell me which of the girls first names you would pick and which middle name to go with it? Also, any other name suggestions for girls would be very helpful!

Elizabeth Violet

I wouldn't go for Violet as a middle name as that will give 'VD' in her initials

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 22/10/2015 13:24

Eleanor Violet
Jennifer Rose
Catrin Lucy
Elizabeth Rose
Ruth is lovely but I don't think any of your mns match it, how about
Ruth Elizabeth
Eleanor Lucy
Catrin Elizabeth
Catrin Rose

Catrin Lucy davids
Ffion Elizabeth ( I know, wrong way round. But they fit well together)

Is Bethan a welsh derivative from Elizabeth ?

BananaRaces · 22/10/2015 14:11

Thunder, I had spotted that but thought as it was a middle name nobody would notice... Perhaps you have just proved me wrong! Smile

WhyCant Bethan is a welsh derivative from Elizabeth I think, and I do like it, unfortunately we can't use it though (various reasons).

Eleanor Violet

I like Eleanor Violet or Elisabeth Violet

Eleanor Rose. Agree with others that Ruth doesn't go with any of your middle names; not a huge fan of single syllable first names, no casual/formalformal variance to show them when you mean business! Wink

Based on your list then I think

Eleanor Rose

sounds the best but then you lose the Welsh element so then I'd suggest :

Catrin Rose

Or as an alternative (I know slightly steering away from your list)

Ffion Catherine....

CakeRattleandRoll · 23/10/2015 09:34

Catrin Rose

Belazu84 · 23/10/2015 14:24

Normally Rose is a bit dull as a middle but Catrin Rose sounds lovely
