Autumnal girls names

I'm 40+6 and haven't decided on a girls name yet. I'm trying to find names which capture the magic of autumn. My own birthday is in October and I remember walking home from school in the leaves, smelling bonfires and having that frisson of excitement about toffee apples and Halloween. I like unusual, gothic, Victoriana, romantic names but can't find the right name which encapsulates all of the above. My current name is Violetta which ties in loosely with an aunt of dh also but all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks all had the following on my long list

Violetta
Ottavia
Rowenna
Scarlett
Tabitha
Aurelia

Will add elowen thanks sophronia - I like oriana but dh says it sounds like areola .

I'm still searching for something I haven't heard before that leaps out at me... Still, baby may be a boy in which case we're sorted for a name!

Elowen is a beautiful name Op.

Breast schmest - I used to know a Bronwyn from Oz who worked for a company in a non English speaking country and they always got confused and called her 'browning', which is a bit like gravy browning, and we all start to think about gravy in the autumn as the weather gets colder!

So much less responsibility when you are naming somebody else's child! Grin

Bracken always gives me an autumnal kind of feeling when I hear it, but I guess bracken isn't exclusively autumnal.

scatterthenuns · 17/10/2015 16:36

OP - are you me?

This is the first bn thread I've come across in which someone has put into words by girls' name taste! I've been finding it so hard to articulate!

So many of these names have gone on my list.

scatterthenuns · 17/10/2015 16:39

My current faves are Briar, Octavia, and pretty much every name beginning with V.

Chillywhippet · 17/10/2015 16:56

Blaize
Arwen

Leaf
Harvest
Pumpkin
Acorn

Hester makes me think of Autumn for some reason. I think the crinkly sound it makes reminds me of crunchy leaves.

I second Tabitha. I think that captures what you are after.

CakeRattleandRoll · 17/10/2015 17:39

Love Elowen, but make sure you use correct Cornish pronunciation (el-OH-un).

Also like pp suggestion of Misty.

Lovelydiscusfish · 17/10/2015 17:57

Just came on to say Pumpkin! But brightnearly got there first.

hawkmcqueen · 17/10/2015 18:14

This is really random but the first name that reminds me of Autumn is Francesca. It reminds me of chestnuts! And a Francesca I went to school with had auburn hair and Hazel eyes, very autumnal indeed (or like a chestnut...) Blush

EmberElftree · 17/10/2015 18:23

Ha scatter - great taste in names Wink hope you find yours too! I love the smell of october it's so evocative.

I love tabitha but dh says no way grrr. Dh us half Cornish so elowen works but I'm not in love with it...

My friend's ds is called Francesco but I love Francesca too and I also went to school with a red haired girl called that. It really suited her.

October.

Lowdoorinthewall · 17/10/2015 20:11

Tauriel (wood elf in LOTR)

reuset · 17/10/2015 20:25

Tauriel is actually from the Hobbit And is practically blasphemy considering the character was not created or written by Tolkien.

Lowdoorinthewall · 17/10/2015 20:33

Russet (inspired by reuset) Wink
