My girl is due early next year (already have a 3 year old girl) and we haven't decided on a name yet.
I came across this name nameberry.com/babyname/Mayday/comments and I have come to love this wonderful, unique name!
What do you think of this name?
And do you have any middle name suggestions?

I would like to have a normal, traditional middle name to go with this unusual first name.

Here are some ideas:

Mayday Grace
Mayday Rose
Mayday Jean
Mayday Jane
Mayday Jade
Mayday Lane
Mayday Renae
Mayday Bree

I did a Mayday Relay once.

One of the most exciting things that's ever happened to me.

Calling your child Mayday would dissuade you from ever shouting out for them in public. Smile

Calling out 'Mayday! Tea's ready!' might also put one's culinary skills under scrutiny.

I hope OP comes back with the punchline.
eg "DD1 is called August and our surname is Banq-Holliday."

Go for it. I've always loved the idea of calling my child in the park and accidentally summoning a search and rescue helicopter.

I've had Come On Eileen stuck in my head all morning as a result of this thread

I suppose that's better than Abba's SOS Grin

This thread prompted me to spend a happy hour on the Baby Names board of Netmums this morning.

I can thoroughly recommend it. One woman wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for how she should spell her baby DD's name Marley in a way that wasn't, well, Marley.

We had Mahli, Mali, Marli, Marleigh, Marlie, Mah-Lee, you name it, we had it.

Mali was vetoed on account of being a very poor country in Africa.

I also spotted a Harisen.

And Parker. For a girl.

My judgey cup runneth over.

Leave I know a Harysen!

I know a Starr. Unique because of the misspelling two rs, natch.

I know a Starr too. She's in her 70's and claims it's an old Scottish name.

SirChenjin · 14/10/2015 17:10

This one is a very new one and also in Scotland - the mum just wanted it to be you-neeq! I'm in Scotland and gave never, ever heard of Starr being a old traditional name - must look it up

I met a jazzmeighn the other day. Pronounced jasmine. Awful. Just no.

It took me a good few minutes of staring at 'Macen' written down until I realised that it was just a you-neeq form of Mason! Obvious really. Hmm

In DS2s martial arts class there is a girl called Love-Leigh

My chosen name for future DD is one that would definitely DEFINITELY raise eyebrows on here, and even I say hell to the no for Mayday. Or Lovelace Hmm

At least she'd have her own code.
You could shorten it to dot.

You just couldn't call a child after a bank holiday.

Mayday: an unusual, yet unique girls name

I'll say.

I love the idea of people rushing over to help every time you call her name. But I think you're of the leg-pulling variety of OP

Well Starr may or may not be an old Scottish name, but Madie is. Most popular in the 18th century, it is the shortened form of Maidlin, the Scots form of Madaleine, and was more widely used than the long form.

There are more than 20 different spelling registered for the name, but Mayday definitely isn't one of them!

Just call the kid Zut Alors and be done with it. Her sister can be called Sacrebleu.

Don't do Mayday

Do Madea instead
