A wild one and I know it's a bit 'out there' but I'm testing it in case...

What do you think of the name Buddy?

Is it pregnancy hormones or is it ok?

BikeRunSki · 06/10/2015 21:53

Its the hormones. But Buddy could be a great NN.

myotherusernameisbetter · 06/10/2015 21:53

I'd see it as more of a nickname than a given name but I'm probably just an old fuddy duddy :o

I could definitely see people shouting it in the park and think it would be cute on a little boy but maybe not so much on a bloke down the pub.

ApplesTheHare · 06/10/2015 21:55

There are 3 babies called Buddy in our Yorkshire village (oh and 2 Buddy dogs). I find it a bit twee/stereotypical Americana. If I'd not met a baby Buddy's mum I'd imagine her to be a bit 'alternative' and maybe to have been into burlesque at one point (overactive imagination or what?? Grin )

BertrandRussell · 06/10/2015 21:56

Awful.

Only1scoop · 06/10/2015 21:57

Jools Oliver likes it Smile

MrsBalustradeLanyard · 06/10/2015 21:57

As bad as Sonny. Sorry!

DramaAlpaca · 06/10/2015 21:58

Definitely the hormones.

Just about OK as a nickname, but for what I've no idea!

Ladypug · 06/10/2015 21:58

Ah thanks guys, I'm watching telly and a really good song came on by buddy holly and I thought 'God I love buddy holly...." Then I was like buddy is a pretty cool name

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/10/2015 21:59

Buddy fine for a little boy. Awful for a man.

scatterthenuns · 06/10/2015 22:00

Great nickname.

Whyisitsodifficult · 06/10/2015 22:01

I like the name, unfortunately the three I know are all dogs!

myotherusernameisbetter · 06/10/2015 22:02

Buddy Holly's real name was Charles :)

celtictoast · 06/10/2015 22:02

Apparently it can be a nickname for Buxton, if that's any good?

myotherusernameisbetter · 06/10/2015 22:03

Peggy Sue would be nice for a girl though :o

ozymandiusking · 06/10/2015 22:10

The dog pursuing Doc Martin is called Buddy!!!

Ladypug · 06/10/2015 22:21

Makes me think of Jamie Oliver's kid, and then the Cake Boss man.

Madbengalmum · 06/10/2015 22:27

No,no,no

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/10/2015 22:44

I have a relative her children are named Buddy and Sonny. It's not awful but not a personal like either.

SWFARMER · 06/10/2015 22:50

Buddy reminds me of a dogs name

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 06/10/2015 22:51

Buddy The Elf? Grin

No, sorry, not for a real baby.

HackerFucker22 · 06/10/2015 23:17

Awww, I quite like it!

I wouldn't use it mind.

NewMrsX · 07/10/2015 21:47

A friends grandson has just been called this. I like it. Although I love Teddy which apparently isn't acceptable as a full name for a grown man either according to most on here.

The way I see it is these names are becoming quite popular so by the time they are grown men it won't be unusual at all iyswim?

Lunastarfish · 08/10/2015 17:01

I know a buddy. Personally I don't like it but I love the name Guy and in essence they are similar in context so don't listen to Me! Go for it if you like it
