Hi ladies,

Looking for some opinions please.

Which do you prefer, Theodore (nn Theo) or Luca?

Last name is Hughes? Being from Scotland and living in England, im not sure if Luca Hughes would work with an English accent? What do you think?

Thank you so much for your help Smile

Xx

I prefer Theodore but Luca is also nice. Both sound ok with Hughes.
Theodore is far more popular if that sways you at all.

celtictoast · 28/09/2015 19:25

I like Theodore, and the nickname Theo. They sound classic and strong, not over-popular but not unheard of either.

Not keen on Luca, it's a bit trendy and I prefer Luke.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/09/2015 19:28

Luca, although prefer Lucas or Luke.

Thank you for your replies Smile

I too like Luke and Lucas but I don't feel they work well with our surname unfortunately. This picking a name malarkey is not easy Confused lol.x

Theodore nn Ted and then he can be Ted Hughes Smile.

Floggingmolly · 28/09/2015 19:59

Luca, definitely.

Flumplet · 28/09/2015 20:17

I have a Theodore and he goes by Theo to everyone except me - he's my teddy James - or teddy pompom after some weird woman's dog on that late 90s 'driving school' programme, remember that??

Sunshine511 · 28/09/2015 20:40

Awww I think Teddy is just so adorable! And isn't James just the perfect middle name! I would totally consider Theodore James but I'm not sure how it sounds with the surname Hughes? I was thinking I might be best to go with a name that doesn't end in an S. What do you think?x

We have a Theo we chose it because (I hope) it transcends race ad class)

Sunshine511 · 28/09/2015 21:34

I think it sounds like Theodore is the favourite. Thank you ladies. Now to find a middle name x

I would agree with Theodore and agree that it goes better with your surname than Luca.

mrstweefromtweesville · 28/09/2015 21:47

Theodore.

Not Luca, or Luka. No.

Middle name Xavier. Or Charles. Or Francis.

Theodore Francis Hughes.

CakeRattleandRoll · 29/09/2015 06:32

Another vote for Theodore.

Sunshine511 · 29/09/2015 08:02

Thank you Smile

Luca sounds wrong with your surname and is trendy and not in a good way IMO.
Theodore is much nicer and goes better.
Lucas scans better with Hughes because the 'as' splits up the U-U sounds!

swimmerforlife · 29/09/2015 09:30

Voting for Luca, lovely name.

RiverTam · 29/09/2015 09:36

I prefer Luca but I think Theodore goes better with your surname.

Sunshine511 · 29/09/2015 10:10

It's so difficult! I don't know the gender and I've got a huge shortlist of girls names that I love but we've really struggled when it comes to boys names! Ive been quite surprised by the fact that a lot of names don't work with our last name! I love Luca but just don't think it's right with our last name so think we'll have to stick with Theodore since its our only other option. Thanks again Smile

Do you have Italian heritage? If not then Theodore, not Luca.

Olddear · 04/10/2015 16:00

Theodore. I know several Lucas'

Bodicea · 06/10/2015 21:53

Theodore is lovely.
Luca no - unless you have some sort of Spanish heritige.

TurquoiseDress · 08/10/2015 20:21

I love Luca!
It's a popular Italian name.

If it's a girl how about Theodora?
