Still thinking about names to add to my list and pondering this one - if you've any suggestions I'd love to hear them!

How do we all feel about this one? Do you need to be German to use it or does it matter, any bad associations or other problems with it?

I like it. I know a Marin which I presume is pronounced the same way?

shoopshoopsong · 12/09/2015 22:47

Never heard it but it's nice. Is it pronounced how it looks?

westcoastnortherneragain · 12/09/2015 22:47

Love it

SmugairleRoin · 12/09/2015 22:49

Yep squoosh it is - ran into this name in Germany where there were a few, was thinking earlier about names to add and remembered this. It comes from Maria apparently.

I also liked Mareike but I think it's too German and hard to pull off! Grin

I love it!

Also love similar names Murron (sp?), the first love from Braveheart, and Mira (pronounced Meera) from Daniel Deronda.

5madthings · 12/09/2015 22:58

I know of a boy called marin and my dd is called Merryn.

I like it. It's unusual but not out there.

SmugairleRoin · 12/09/2015 23:00

Oh yes Muireann is a name here too (Dublin) which I do love too, but I know one who is just crazy and dippy and I can't really shake the association with her Grin

Mira is interesting, will ask what dp thinks!

Getting good feedback so far Smile

Maren, for a girl? I really like it.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 13/09/2015 09:34

I know a Mirran (girl). I like that more than Maren, which sounds a bit hard I think.

Belazu84 · 13/09/2015 14:39

There's a Marin in The Miniaturist - she's dutch. Such a beautiful name I think. Slight prefer it to Maren spelling, but both are nice.

squoosh · 13/09/2015 16:21

I'd forgotten about Marin in The Miniaturist.

God that book irritated me so much!

Belazu84 · 13/09/2015 16:54

Yeah the book irritated me a bit too, the name Marin was the main thing that impressed me!

SmugairleRoin · 13/09/2015 16:56

I don't know the book, will have to go read it now, I'm curious!

Thanks all for the feedback. Smile

I'd assume there was a German family link if I met a Maren
