What do you honestly think of this girl's name?

Helloo mummies and mummies to be..

My baby girl is due in November and I wanted your honest opinions on this? My partner and I both love the name Ava and have agreed on this, however I do appreciate it's popularity (although I don't know any Ava's hence the reason we are going for this)

So I want a middle name/names that make it more unique, to go with the surname Brook.

I am thinking Ava Naomi Winter Brook as her full name.. what's your opinion on this?

Open to suggestions but please no Grace/Rose/May/Elizabeth names as I want to keep it unique and this these are also commonly used..

Also trying to stay away from anything too unusual/difficult to spell.

Many thanks !! :-) xxx

No to "Winter" Brook

clippityclop · 11/09/2015 15:53

Is there a family reason for including Winter? Ava Naomi is fine.

emilyapplegate93 · 11/09/2015 15:58

I liked Winter, due to the fact she will be born in Winter time. And thought it made the name more unique as a whole. I would settle for Ava Naomi on its own though if it's too much... x

Is it the done thing to include the whole name, including surname?

Every1KnowsJeffHesUsuallyACunt · 11/09/2015 16:05

Comes across as a bit clich?? and trying too hard using Winter for a Winter baby Op, sorry.

The rest is ok though.

CakeRattleandRoll · 11/09/2015 16:06

I like it. Naomi is a good choice for mn.
It's fine to include the Winter bit, but also fine to leave it out.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 11/09/2015 16:06

Ava - at least 6 in school along with Eva, Evie, think it will date really quickly. Naomi would be a more unique name as a first name.

Every1KnowsJeffHesUsuallyACunt · 11/09/2015 16:06

That should be cliche.

Floggingmolly · 11/09/2015 16:08

All children are born in one season or another, op. It'll be obvious from their birthdays; doesn't need immortalising in their name Confused

Angelina77 · 11/09/2015 16:15

I can't believe how many Ava's there are where I am, it must be about 10% of under 10s.

SlowlyGoingINSAINIA · 11/09/2015 16:19

If you want a unique name then why use 'Ava'?

Naomi is a lovely name.

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 11/09/2015 16:20

Ava is a lovely name, super popular but fine if that doesn't bother you. I tend to agree with the other posters about Winter. But Naomi is nice enough and a bit different if that's what you're looking for.

Wearyheadedlady · 11/09/2015 16:22

There are many, many, many Avas in the UK. There was a swathe of them in the early 2000's and its not died down, especially in London and the surrounding areas.

Otherwise no helpful suggestions. How about Emma?

SueGeneris · 11/09/2015 16:24

I think Nieva is Spanish for snow. Pronounced 'nee-ayva'

MirandaGoshawk · 11/09/2015 16:25

OP your names are lovely. I don't see the problem with using Winter - for years dch born at Xmas were called Holly, Noel/Noelle - this is just eh modern version of that.

BikeRunSki · 11/09/2015 16:27

Why not out Naomi first, that would make her far more distinctive. I agree with other about leaving out Winter. My birthday is in November, and I'd say it was Autumn anyway.

BertrandRussell · 11/09/2015 16:27

I in every 100 baby girls born last year were called Ava. So you'd still be pretty unlucky to have another one in your class. Or even in your school.

rainpouringrainbows · 11/09/2015 16:28

I do like Ava, but I know a couple of little girls called Ava, it does seem popular.

I don't dislike "Winter", but if it's not related to a specific family surname, it's a bit weird.

beaucoupdemojo · 11/09/2015 16:30

I only know 1 Ava. It is a beautiful name and I think that if you love it, it doesn't really matter how many other people have loved and chosen it too.

I like Winter as well

Chewbecca · 11/09/2015 16:34

Remember people are generally only know by first name/surname so your daughter would be known as Ava Brook.

I think if your goal is unique and uncommon, you need to find a more unusual first name.

Looking at the 2014 baby name registers, the ones you list are:

5 Ava
13 Grace
53 Elizabeth
60 Rose

And May is outside the top 100.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 11/09/2015 16:52

Ava is nice. I know two - one in DD's Reception class and one in Year 2. Not loads about here.

Personally, I like season names (Autumn, Winter, Summer) - although I think they are quite marmite. People either love them or hate them. Much like flower names!

I like it. Although if I was going for unique, I would be trying to think of something even more unusual - but still a real name. There's no merit in making something up just to be unique Wink.

Fumnudge · 11/09/2015 16:54

I love your choice. All of them, in that exact order.
You'll never please everyone so stick to what you find beautiful (and for goodness sake NEVER ask family n friends opinion or you'll always know they didn't like your choice Wink)

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 11/09/2015 17:00

Ava is lovely. I've never met one.
I like the name winter but not with brook.
Ava Naomi Brook is lovely though.

Binxboosandme · 11/09/2015 17:03

I love it! Very pretty and unique.

thunderbird69 · 11/09/2015 17:08

I like Ava, but not Ava Brook - sounds like 'I've a brook' or 'I've a book'.

Naomi Brook is nice.

Winter is ok if she is actually born in Winter
