Stella?

This is our current front-runner for DD (DC2). I have some Greek heritage and DS also has a Greek-inspired but not too unusual in England name.

Do you immediately think of McCartney? Or that new TV show? Is it a problem if you do?

I like the name, I prefer it to any other that we've come up with BUT I'm not 100% certain somehow... TIA

Sophronia · 07/09/2015 20:10

I'm not keen, it makes me think of Stella Artois.

SmugairleRoin · 07/09/2015 20:11

I kinda like it.
Estelle also possibly (though I know that wouldn't be right for your heritage)?

duggiecustard · 07/09/2015 20:12

Makes me think of Frank Gallagher. He named his daughter stella after stella artois.

namechangefornamechooser · 07/09/2015 20:13

I didn't even think of Stella Artois!

I like it. So rarely heard but simple.

I think Stella should have sisters called Tessa and Nancy for some reason, they seem to go together.

BikeRunSki · 07/09/2015 20:17

My default Stella is my niece. The Stella Artois comments dried up by the time she was about a month old, I wouldn't worry about them.

namechangefornamechooser · 07/09/2015 20:19

I can't imagine the SA comments would bother me, neither DH nor I drink it. Still interesting to know that's some peoples first thought though.

Yeah, my mind jumped to the lager too I'm afraid.

Could u put an E on the front n have Estella or does that then make it Spanish in origin?

SealSong · 07/09/2015 20:21

Really like it.

ShadowLine · 07/09/2015 20:22

I think of the lager too, sorry.

SlowlyGoingINSAINIA · 07/09/2015 20:25

Stella Artois and shameless.

wigglesrock · 07/09/2015 20:28

Absolutely love it, was on the list for each of my three daughters - my husband doesn't like it, so it was discarded. I don't think of the beer, designer or TV show.

Fannyupcrutch · 07/09/2015 20:32

Yep, shameless and lager. Sorry OP :(

whatdoIget · 07/09/2015 20:38

I like it but know too many pissheads people who drink Stella

Bondixx · 07/09/2015 22:55

I like it a lot - subtly classic and it means 'star'! What little girl wouldn't love to be called this!

Junosmum · 08/09/2015 21:52

Fosters, Becks, kronenberg, Peroni. Stella is a beer.

CelestiaLuna · 08/09/2015 22:50

I know a beautiful Little girl called Stella and because of knowing her, I personally never think about the lager association. Her younger sister is Greta.

AuntieStella · 08/09/2015 22:51

I would think of the lager. It's why it's in my MN name.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 08/09/2015 22:55

Sorry I think of the beer. Really really want to like it, but just can't get past the beer.
It's very popular around here (london) at a children's party yesterday there where 4 little girls called Stella!

Enkopkaffetak · 08/09/2015 22:55

I think it is pretty and it makes me think of stars.

PigletJohn · 08/09/2015 22:56

I have an old friend whose middle name is Stella, family is Italian so I thought perhaps that's where it came from. It only makes me think of stars.

nooka · 09/09/2015 05:45

Makes me think of my mother's lovely friend now in her late 70s and my friends little girl who is four. Both are feisty and fun (especially the little one).

WhiteHairReally · 09/09/2015 15:39

Love it but it didn't go with our surnames. Elegant and not 'try too hard' . I think Johnnie Boden's youngest is a Stella.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 09/09/2015 16:41

I went to school with a Stella. She was uptight and miserable.

If I heard it for a baby I'd assume the parents liked the lager I'm afraid.

pilates · 09/09/2015 16:43

Dislike and yes I think of the beer.
