Ryan - thoughts?

Our baby boy is 5 days old now and still nameless. We have a list and I thought we would go for Robert, James or Leo but all of a sudden Ryan appeared on the list and I don't know why but that name seems to suit him! I am not British myself so I don't know which associations people would have with this name? Would he get teased for being a budget airline? ;)

Ryan isn't a naice name, if that matters to you. Plus it's quite dated.

AngelicaDelight · 07/09/2015 06:49

It's a pretty common name.

VB111 · 07/09/2015 06:55

Congratulations! James and Robert are SO much nicer than Ryan to be very honest.

Lovelydiscusfish · 07/09/2015 06:55

Is it coming back in? I know a baby Ryan. Everyone seemed quite taken aback when they heard what he was called - I think it was quite popular in the 80s. But if you like it, nothing wrong or especially strange about it.

mrsschu · 07/09/2015 08:02

Not a fan of Ryan, it sounds dated IMO. Leo or James are nicer. I would go with Leo personally.

Mrsjayy · 07/09/2015 08:06

I know of a 2yrold Ryan i think its on its way back i like it personaly i dont like Leo its overused james is better than Leo

SmugairleRoin · 07/09/2015 08:34

I like it. As an Irish person it's a bit surnamey to me, but other than that solid name!

Leo is nice, or Leon?

Sophronia · 07/09/2015 11:31

I prefer Robert or James.

Pipilangstrumpf · 07/09/2015 11:32

I'm not so keen, sorry. I like Robert though!

Hopesicles · 03/11/2015 00:13

I LOVE Ryan! :) x

WomanScorned · 03/11/2015 00:19

Robert is nicer and less popular/dated than Ryan, imho.

mapmyface · 03/11/2015 00:31

I have a Robert James Smile lovely classic name. No other Robert's in his school

GothJoose · 03/11/2015 14:49

I love Ryan

reuset · 03/11/2015 16:30

I'm not a fan of Ryan, personally. Your other names I do like, however.

Binkybix · 03/11/2015 16:30

I like Ryan a lot.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/11/2015 16:32

Dislike Ryan.

Robert, James and Leo all much much nicer.

Narp · 03/11/2015 16:44

Congratulations

Ryan wears a baseball cap and drives too fast in his souped-up car. He's in his late teens, or twenties

Narp · 03/11/2015 16:45

What about

Evan
Leon
Owen

DeepBlueLake · 03/11/2015 20:32

I love it.

yeOldeTrout · 03/11/2015 20:44

I like Ryan a lot and don't associate any bad things with it even though it's the name of DS enemy, also I loathe a lot of the other suggestions .

Twistedheartache · 03/11/2015 20:47

I like it a lot but db & sil work with schools and in their town (my home town) think it's a common name

Nanasueathome · 03/11/2015 20:50

My youngest son is Ryan Oliver
He is 35 now but, when he was born, it was the only name I would consider
I so wanted a boy and for him to be called Ryan

Really do not know any others of the same name

Still love the name after all these years

Havalina1 · 03/11/2015 21:00

Wish I'd thought of ryan! Great name!
