It probably won't get MN approval but I really like it.

nooka · 05/09/2015 21:58

I'm afraid it makes me think of 1984

FuzzyWizard · 05/09/2015 22:01

It's a nice, solid sort of name. I imagine a Winston would be sensible and responsible. It's not cutesy and is a name that a boy would grow into.

SonnyNoChance · 05/09/2015 22:04

I love it

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/09/2015 22:06

Great name.

SmugairleRoin · 05/09/2015 23:21

I don't hate it and I don't love it. I'm indifferent.

squoosh · 05/09/2015 23:24

The stall holder on Eastenders who has a line once every five years.

Aside from that I don't love it but could get used to it.

scatterthenuns · 06/09/2015 00:23

I think of it as one of those names that is popular with English butlers but also popular in Jamaica. Like it very much - put it in the same category as Reginald.

Judge Winston.
Dr Winston
Professor Winston.

Solid, no nonsense name.

I like it.

KLou1105 · 06/09/2015 08:21

Glad most people like it :) this is definately our top name for a boy atm. We were just worried it may sound a little posh and maybe he would be teased at school

It doesn't sound posh. Winston Smith I think. Isn't 1984 being remade. The bandwagoners might make it trendy (Atticus style).

MamaLazarou · 06/09/2015 17:39

Winston is an awesome name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/09/2015 17:42

Not posh to me. It's ok, as long as he doesn't get Winnie.

StormCoat · 06/09/2015 17:43

Cool name and due a revival, as all the Winstons I know are of Caribbean extraction and in their 70s. Possibly the Windrush generation were favouring Churchillian/very 'English' names?

(I am also highly amused that the only living Enoch I know is a black anti-racism campaigner.)

Ikeameatballs · 06/09/2015 17:44

I really like it.

Pipilangstrumpf · 07/09/2015 11:32

Great classic that isn't overused! Love it.
