I know he is a bad guy in the hunger games, and that alone is putting me off a bit, but it is the unusuallness that bothers me most.

Aside from that, it is the best sounding ( strong, short, cool ) name I have found and is definitely my favourite in fantasy land. But... is it usable on an actual child?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PennyHasNoSurname · 29/08/2015 14:18

Nope. Sorry.

(1) Hunger Games
(2) Sounds like Kate-O. Which would be too girly for me to choose for a boy.

Middle name possibly, but not everyday.

JanuaryJuniper · 29/08/2015 14:29

I'm not sure, I want to like it as it fits the criteria I generally go for in a name. It is short, snappy, cool and strong but I think in day to day life where name nerds are far and few between it might get a few Hmm but then if you love it go for it!

I named my dd Aphra despite some saying she would be called afro, that has NEVER happened, I have got so many great reactions despite it being very unusual.

ooerrmissus · 29/08/2015 14:38

No. People of a certain age will remember the Pink Panther films and start shouting 'Cato! you will not attack me Cato!' In fake French accents.

BeautifulBatman · 29/08/2015 14:40

Christ, just don't. The Green Hornet.

Squooshed · 29/08/2015 14:44

Reminds me of the OJ Simpson trial. Wasn't their star witness called Cato? He had a whopper of a mullett.

Admittedly that's a very niche mid 1990s reference!

lunar1 · 29/08/2015 14:46

It will be shortened and sound like Kate

Costacoffeeplease · 29/08/2015 14:55

Not now Cato! (Another pink panther reference)

spanisharmada · 29/08/2015 14:59

I like it, I also think it would be more likely to be shortened to cay then care.

UnbelievableBollocks · 29/08/2015 15:02

Cato = pink panther.

Musidora · 29/08/2015 17:22

I think of the Roman orator. Which is cool.

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/08/2015 17:24

An awful Hunger Games reference to me.
It's unusual for a reason I think Grin

Helenluvsrob · 29/08/2015 17:26

Pink panther !

SleepyForest · 29/08/2015 17:27

I would think it was from the Roman hero in the Simon Scarrow series. I like it.

Palomb · 29/08/2015 17:34

I really like it :)

Gingermakesmesick · 29/08/2015 17:36

The original Cato was a bit of a knob.

Don't.

thisisawindow · 29/08/2015 19:47

well that is a fairly conclusive no! thanks for your opinions though.

January especially, can you share some other ideas if you have any? Short, snappy, cool and strong is exactly what I want! Leon is another contender, but I'm not 100% sold on it.
