Delphi or Juniper?

Which do you prefer and which works best with siblings Eli and Aphra? (Not yet pregnant but going to start ttc shortly)

My criteria tends to be not hugely popular but not batshit crazy either, I think these fit!

Delphi, Juniper doesn't really sound like a name.

NotTodaySatan · 29/08/2015 11:59

Delphi is gorgeous.

I don't love Juniper but do love a few of it's potential nicknames.

Shockers · 29/08/2015 12:02

I don't see Juniper as a name. Delphi is lovely though.

JanuaryJuniper · 29/08/2015 12:03

Dh LOVES Juniper,I just presented him with Delphi today which he is on the fence about (though he is always like that when he first heard a name)

I love both equally!

I agree NotTodaySatan Juniper has some lovely nn, Juno, Juni, Joon which is nice!

Delphi -but only because I hate the smell of juniper.

NotTodaySatan · 29/08/2015 12:08

YY Juno, Juni and Joon were exactly what I was thinking of Smile

Sophronia · 29/08/2015 13:00

Delphi is the name of my local Greek restaurant. I prefer Delphine or Delphina.

Daphnedolittle · 29/08/2015 13:06

I used to love Delphi until dh said it was the name of a play centre near where he lived in Galway. Everyone used to 'go down the delph'. Not saying that should put you off.
I really like Juniper. Do you like Indie?

JanuaryJuniper · 29/08/2015 14:23

Yes I know about the centre down in, it's certainly a negative against it. I used to love the name Indíe and it was on the list for Aphra but I'm not so sure now!

That should say down in Galway.

Delphi reminds me of that place in Galway too Daphne. We went on an outward bound/assault course type school trip there. It was a soggy experience.

Juniper is much nicer.

MargoReadbetter · 29/08/2015 21:35

Delphi sounds unfinished business and Juniper a bit ugly, sorry.

Arsenic · 29/08/2015 21:36

Delphi conjures 'Oracle of'. Would she feel under pressure to be all-knowing with a name like that? Smile

Probably not playground pressure, admittedly.

reuset · 30/08/2015 01:48

Delphi(e) is the main character of those naffo sparkly ballerina, Bussell books. I'm not a fan but it's marginally better than Juniper. Now how does that song go.

Both a bit weird with two obviously biblical names, but I don't suppose that sort of thing matters.

reuset · 30/08/2015 01:52

Oh yes, that's it. Jennifer Juniper, lilacs in her hair...rides a dappled mare etc

Juniper's not really a 'proper' name and it puts me in mind of gin

reuset · 30/08/2015 01:54

June is nicer (in my humble opinion) but might not be fashionable enough for you.

Arsenic · 30/08/2015 02:00

The hippy names are getting a rough ride this week (see Luna).

I rather like Juniper. Much nicer than Jennifer and it's a good song.

reuset · 30/08/2015 02:07

It is a good song!

CakeRattleandRoll · 30/08/2015 04:09

Prefer Juniper - quite like it actually.

Doobyscoobydoo · 30/08/2015 04:42

I can't even tell if these names are supposed to be for a boy or a girl Hmm

BikeRunSki · 30/08/2015 05:37

Much prefer Juniper, Donovan connections or otherwise.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 30/08/2015 08:33

Delphi sounds like a mix of your other two...
Juniper has more nn. I love Juno. Or juju.

HackerFucker22 · 30/08/2015 11:26

I prefer Delphi. Although it's a common computer programming language. As well as a place of course.

BlahBlahUsername · 30/08/2015 11:54

Delphi sounds a bit like a business name shortened. I like it a lot though. How about Delphine? Then she also has the option of being Phiney, etc (though that doesn't look good written down!)

JanuaryJuniper · 30/08/2015 13:21

Juno has also been on the list but dh prefers Juniper!
