I love Ayla (DH doesn't), Caitlyn (although not my usual taste) and Lara (quite similar to my name) so you are welcome to all of those :)

The others don't tickle my personal taste but nothing horrible!

StonedGalah · 21/08/2015 14:24

We can't narrow down and instead keep adding to it!

I just narrowed it down for you! Ta-dah!! Favourite is Ayla.

How about Zara if you like Lara and Zoe? Sorry if I have added another! I have the opposite problem, we have 3 names in total that we will both consider... and that's between boys and girls!

StonedGalah · 21/08/2015 14:40

Thanks Fairy Grin

Surprisingly l'm not a fan of Zara. I've just messaged DH with 2 more names Blush

Trying out my new NN. I like Zoe. I like Caitlin but not with your spelling.

mrstweefromtweesville · 21/08/2015 15:13

Ayla - no
Ada - perhaps, if you have a very traditional surname 'Ada Johnson' works, 'Ada DeLauncey' doesn't.
Ailish - yes
Caitlyn - no (but your spelling is the way I would spell it).
Hannah - yes
Lara -yes
Tamsyn no. Tamsin, yes.
Zoe -no.
Those are my thoughts.

Sophronia · 21/08/2015 15:21

I like Ada, Hannah, Lara, Tamsin and Zoe.

wigglesrock · 21/08/2015 15:32

I really like Zoe and Lara from your list. Dislike Ada quite intensely, I find Caitlin/Caitlyn to be a very dated name - like Joanne, Carole, Nichola. It was wild popular where I live about 15 years ago and I haven't heard of a baby one since.

StonedGalah · 21/08/2015 15:40

We do have a traditional sort of surname that Ada would suit, but wondered if Ada was a baby name, it's a strong sounding name.

So no one hates Ailish, that's a start Smile

Thanks everyone for your opinions.

Lara is my favourite, followed by Hannah and Zoe. They are all lovely names. Really not keen on any of the others (especially Ailish, sorry)

VB111 · 21/08/2015 19:43

I think Lara is the nicest.

StonedGalah · 21/08/2015 20:35

Hmm, a no for Ailish. Lara is DH favourite. He also really liked Lyra but l thought it was too close to liar.

BikeRunSki · 21/08/2015 20:40

I think Ailish will often be mistaken for Alice.

I's spell Tamsyn and Caitlyn with i's not y's at the end.

My favourite from your list is Zoe.

ExBallerina · 21/08/2015 20:54

I love Ada, Hannah and Zoe.

Sort of like Lara.

Not keen on others.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 21/08/2015 20:58

Ayla - not keen at all, sorry
Ada - nice but I think will date
Ailish - nice, is it alternatively spelled Eilish?
Caitlyn - no, esp not with the y
Hannah - nice
Lara - ok
Tamsyn - like this (have often thought that if I had boy/girl twins they would be Thomas and Tamsin), but again, not with the y spelling
Zoe - like, lovely meaning, unusual these days

manicinsomniac · 22/08/2015 20:00

Ayla - love it
Ada - quite like it
Ailish - don't like it at all
Caitlyn - indifferent
Hannah - love it
Lara - love it
Tamsyn - it's ok
Zoe - quite like it

SmugairleRoin · 23/08/2015 02:26

I don't mind the sound of Ailish but not keen on it written down. Eilidh perhaps?

Ada is alright, not mad on it. Éabha (Irish for Ava) much nicer, if you like that or have an Irish connection.

Hannah - I seem to have taught lots of Hannahs recently so no to that. Alannah?

Ayla, Lara, Zoe and Caitlyn are lovely.

Tamsyn/Tamsin is dreadful. Not sure why but it reminds me of monkeys.

CakeRattleandRoll · 23/08/2015 06:51

Love Tamsyn, and prefer it with that spelling.
Really like Zoe and Lara.
Ada reminds me of Asda Blush

WishIWasWonderwoman · 23/08/2015 07:08

I like Hannah and Zoe. Ada is good too. Lara is okay.

I don't really like the rest sorry!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 23/08/2015 07:56

Love Zoe (pretty and you don't hear it much these days)
Like Lara
Tamsin and Caitlin sound 1990's Home and Away to me
Not keen on Ada
Quite like Hannah and Ayla

greatbigwho · 23/08/2015 08:00

Is Ailish an alternate spelling to Eilidh? I love Eilidh, but am not so keen on Ailish :/

SunnyL · 23/08/2015 08:05

I once had a boss called Ailiash (actually it was nordic spelling Eibliss). We called her Eyelash behind her back. But then she was hateful so we could have called her any number of names.

StonedGalah · 23/08/2015 18:47

Dh is Irish but I'm Australian and Aussies would never get the Irish spelling / pronunciation!
