William, Alex and...

DS (3 years old) is William Charles (usually known as Will). We lost a baby boy last year at 21 weeks, called Alex. He would have been Alexander if he'd lived. I just discovered that bump (due in January) is another boy. We are totally stuck for boys names, having used three up already! I like classics, but not too fusty. Names that we have ruled out (because family/friends have used them) are:
George
Henry
Harry
Daniel
Matthew
Thomas
Oscar
James
Toby

I like Ben and Sam but DH doesn't. He likes Archie and Freddie, but I'm not sure about nickname names when I dislike the full version.

What else would we like? Any suggestions welcome!

In the same boat as you in that DH likes Archie but I don't like Archibald. I suggest Arthur as the nickname Artie is so similar to Archie. He likes that so Arthur is on our list.

With Freddie have you thought of Alfred as the long version?

Theodore with Teddie for short.

Thomas

My grandad (rip) was William Alexander Smile

His brothers were David and John, but I don't know if that's quite the right style now.

I have a George, and liked loads of the names on your list (our George was nameless for 2 days). Other names we considered were

Rory
Hugo
Alfie
Hamish
Gabriel
Eric
Noah

Bit of a random mix there! But they seem to fit with both of your sons names.

So sorry for your loss FlowersStar

Henry came to mind before I opened the thread but if that can't be used Edward Goes nicely I think

SunnyL · 17/08/2015 19:32

Peter?

SpanielFace · 17/08/2015 22:49

I quite like Hugo, Rory, and Lewis off that list. DH also likes Hugo. I'm just worried that it's a bit posh (and therefore a bit pretentious, as we are not!). Is it still a posh name?

Unfortunately my boss is called Peter, otherwise I quite like that for a little boy. I should have also mentioned that Arthur is off the list.
