Ava or Darcy for a girl?

Please help, we are going around in circles for our choice of names. I think we have narrowed it down to these two. What do people think? Are there any bad connotations I haven't thought of?

I would spell Darcey with an 'e' before the 'y'. I like both, Ava perhaps a bit more.

Daffodilliesanddaisies · 16/08/2015 22:15

Oops I did mean to add the e.

Ava is v popular and quite similar to the very popular Eve, Eva and Evies you cannot avoid atm. This may not bother you though.

Darcy/Darcey/Darcie is not my cup of tea at all but I don't like surname type names. I don't think there's anything wrong with it though, just a personal preference thing. It's fairly well used and I definitely know more girls than boys who are named Darcy.

Lambbone · 16/08/2015 22:26

They are both nice, but very common (frequently used, not common as muck common).

What about Tracey? You'd be ahead of the curve there, and it is a similar name to Darcey.

Or Angela? Again, not too common, and has an A beginning and end, like Ava.

Ava is prettier, IMO. The only Darcy I know is a boy.

Ava

Both are nice. Just wait and see if she looks like an Ava or a Darcy. I always had a couple of names to choose from and then decided on what they looked like.

Ava

Thanks looks like Ava is winning.

Those are my nieces! Lovely names.

ashesandfire · 17/08/2015 15:42

Apparently Ava is very popular but I don't know any myself.
Darcey is not my cup of tea at all, Ava is much prettier IMO.

Diggum · 17/08/2015 15:51

I love Darcey.

Ava and variants are pretty ubiquitous around these parts in recent years so she'd be quite likely to have another few in her class I'd say.

SmugairleRoin · 17/08/2015 15:52

Lacey is similar to Darcey if you like that. Or Ada instead of Ava.

Ava is too popular imo, I'd go with Darcey.

GoodbyeToAllOfThat · 17/08/2015 16:00

I don't like either of them, to be honest. I think they're both way too trendy.

DurhamDurham · 17/08/2015 16:00

I always wanted a Darcy but husband wasn't keen and as I vetoed his that I didn't like I had to return the favour. I keep suggesting it to my girls as a possibility for future grandchildren but no takers so far.

BittersweetSymphony · 17/08/2015 16:09

I like both :) Grin but Ava is definitely my favourite
