Ines is absolutely beautiful!!

Ines gets terrible abuse in the mouths of English speakers. Ramona I think a little less so.

Also, if you make it with an accent people will always get it wrong (the French use the accent you have used, the Spanish an acute one).

I love the name Ramona. Would have made my list but DP vetoed. So I say go for it, someone should use the name if I can't!

Both lovely names n go great with Milo but I think Ines just edges it .

Hi Liara, I'm a French teacher, which is why I've chosen the French spelling, but the pronunciation thing did bother me a bit to be honest. I'm worried people will never get it quite right.

For those of you asking, in French, it's like E-nez (with emphasis on the first part), in Spanish the emphasis is on the last part.

Hmm... Maybe Ramona would be safer...

So it's like E-nez. Sorry but the way that sounds out of my mouth (English person mangling the pronunciation, I'm sure) it sounds like 'penis' without the P.

i-NEZ I think is gorgeous, and I know a lovely little Ramona - super cool name!

I think we'll use one (25 weeks, but didn't find out sex) if we have a girl and use the other as a middle name with Mary (after 3 of our grandmothers as a last name). So, either Inès Ramona Mary or Ramona Inès Mary. We still have lots of time to decide, but I like to be organised.

Bree, it's kind of like 'ih' at the start. Not too much of an E sound. Oh I wish it was easier to pronounce because then it would be a definite.

As someone from the UK I would personally get the accent in Ines mixed up Does the name mean something else with the accent going from bottom left to top right? I wouldn't want to annoy your daughter by writing it wrong and calling her the male version of the name or something.
I'm purely going by sound of name but Ined sounds "nicer" to me.

I've name changed just for this thread OP as my name is Inés.

It's a lovely name and don't take this personally but please please don't use it if you are the UK. Literally no one can either pronounce it or spell it. I get called INNS, Ines(to rhyme with Heinz), In-ezz (my name should be pronounced the south American way, Ee-ness).

Not only will no one be able to pronounce it, but when asked her name she will have to repeat it sixty times on the phone before people understand what it is. Whenever I answer the phone at work and say 'Inés speaking', I invariably get 'Oh hello Vanessa' in response.

Sorry to be blunt. But please do not inflict this name on your child in this country - it is such a burden that I have seriously considered using my middle name instead as it's an English name.

PS I'm in Ireland, but she'd have the same issues with pronunciation here, unfortunately
