SAIR-ren

Pretty name, not one I have ever considered but very nice indeed.

SER-en

Christelle2207 · 16/08/2015 16:48

The 2nd E def needs to be pronounced- someone said both E's are like a in any which is correct. Also like the ai sound in air.
Many english might pronounce it seh-run (like the pron of Helen which tends to be He-lun) - definitely wrong!

littlejohnnydory · 17/08/2015 20:28

Nothing like "seven" with an r, as suggested upthread! As others have said, emphasis on first syllable SE-ren. Both e's are a short e as in egg. So se-ren not se-run.

Hobbitwife001 · 17/08/2015 20:35

SE-ren, lovely name, means 'star' in Welsh.

honeysucklejasmine · 17/08/2015 20:37

I am finding myself almost half-rolling the r. Not sure why. I think because I knew a little girl called Saran who had a rolled r in her name. She was welsh.

BestIsWest · 17/08/2015 22:34

Yes to rolling the R. I do.

My dgd is called Seren, we pronounce it like seven but with R instead of V, just like a pp said. It was very unusual when she was named but getting more popular now, it is welsh for star. I love her name.

Notso · 18/08/2015 09:11

I hear lots of people pronounce it Se-run but the second e is more like in wren.

PrimalLass · 18/08/2015 09:19

I knew a Seren (Welsh) growing up. Her name was pronounced SE-ren. Lovely name.
