Sunny....We both really like it, we want something different but not too out there, also like Belle, bluebell.....middle names on the shortlist Violet, Beatrix, Alba. Would love to hear opinions.....

Bonnie and Sunny sound awful together!

Unless you are starting a troupe and you plan to have Annie and Honey and Fanny and Lonnie too.

Buy then what about poor Lola? :(

Burnet · 15/08/2015 12:39

I quite like it, if you didn't have a Bonnie.

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 12:44

I don't get why it isn't right with Bonnie? I think it goes well with Lola and Bonnie?

Daphnedolittle · 15/08/2015 13:02

I think it goes well with your other names but I do think of it as a boys name as I know a little Sonny.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 15/08/2015 13:08

I don't think the sound goes particularly badly with Bonnie. I do think it's a totally different style of name to Bonnie or Lola though.

I suspect that posters saying it doesn't go feel that it's too many nn's

WishIWasWonderwoman · 15/08/2015 13:13

I just think Bonnie and Sunny sound too similar. Lola and Bonnie is okay, Lola and Sunny is okay, but Loly, Bonnie and Sunny is a bit much in my opinion.

WishIWasWonderwoman · 15/08/2015 13:13

*Lola not Loly!

GammonAndEgg · 15/08/2015 13:31

I have a DD, Merry.

I was told I couldn't call her that in case she was a 'mardy little cow'!

She's a teen now and she has her moments her name suits her perfectly. She loves it.

WitchofScots · 15/08/2015 13:34

Gammon is Merry a nn for Meredith? Just wondered as a female relative is Meredith and uses Merry as her nickname.

GammonAndEgg · 15/08/2015 13:45

Can be short for loads of names, including Meredith, Merrilyn and Meryl. But it's also an Old English name in its own right.

GammonAndEgg · 15/08/2015 13:45

Should have added there that my Merry was christened Merry and it's not a nickname.

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 13:53

We can always call something else if/when they are being Mardy ;)

Sulky! Wink

LynetteScavo · 15/08/2015 14:59

I think it's perfect. Smile

HuftysTrain · 15/08/2015 15:25

You love it. Your DH loves it. You like how it sounds with your other children's names and you have weighed up all the pros and cons of a somewhat unusual name.

I don't know what else you want to hear.

Just use it.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 15/08/2015 15:28

Well quite Huffy.

TBH I am never sure what people are after with these threads. I would never have start a thread about DD2 's name because most of you lot hate it. Grin Doesn't change that we loved it and used it.

Noodle1234 · 15/08/2015 16:45

Sunny is a bit rhymey with Bonnie, and generally isn't in the same league as either Lola or Bonnie. I think there's a better name out there for you, waiting to be discovered.

What is it that you like about Sunny? Maybe we could help create a list of names with similar qualities?

I'm thinking Blythe might appeal? It's got an equally positive meaning, it's not frilly, it's underused and a bit quirky.

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 16:58

I did wonder after why I asked the question....I guess I just wanted to put feelers out but at the same time only want to hear positive reactions :) I really don't like Blythe sorry...I like sunny because I think it's cool, fun and different, I like nickname names but also pretty names, we are a young family and I work in fashion so I suppose that comes into it as I want a name that suits us and our family. I would hate to name her something that isn't unique and have lots of other children around with the same name, I want a name that I would happily have, I like Beatrix many because I can shorten it to bea or trixy, sunny was on our list when we had Bonnie and I love it just as much now, I think my mind is made up but obviously if everyone hated it I would've reconsidered :)

Is being unique something that has become more important to you as you've had more kids - just being nosy because obviously Lola is quite popular (unless yours is a teen)? I've gone more that way after my first too.

I like unusual names too, although my taste is more 'traditional and fallen out of favour'. The quirky names I like (but wouldnt' use) are things like Lilac, Ember and Pippa Smile

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 17:19

Lola is 7 and there really weren't many that I knew of when I had her, she's the only Lola in her school, Bonnie is probably less unique but it was more of a sentimental name for me :) I don't like made up names, I think sunny is more of an American name, I think it's different without being too crazy.

I couldn't watch it all sorry, nodded off:)

OP posts:
LibrariesGaveUsPower · 15/08/2015 17:51

See I think Bonnie is way more unusual. I know three Lola 's all aged 4. Smile Not that it isn't pretty, but it is very popular round here.

Lilac and Ember aren't made up names any more than Sunny is (though maybe it wasn't those you were referring to).Smile

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 17:54

No sorry I wasn't referring to those names I just meant in general I don't like made up names, lilac and ember are pretty but not right for me :)
