Sunny....We both really like it, we want something different but not too out there, also like Belle, bluebell.....middle names on the shortlist Violet, Beatrix, Alba. Would love to hear opinions.....

Love your comment! Thank you :) I was starting to talk myself out of it but it is a fab name, we love it and I don't want to give her a boring conformist name just I case she is grumpy or a skin cancer specialist.....bloody daft opinion!!

It's fine as a nickname.

It is shit as an actual name.

BertrandRussell · 15/08/2015 10:45

"I like quirky, fun names."

Yeah, because there's nothing a middle aged professional woman wants more than a "quirky, fun name"

code · 15/08/2015 10:50

I don't like it. Classic names are much kinder.

badg3r · 15/08/2015 11:09

It has the potential to be a real sore point when she's a grown up and not a cute 3 year old. I would be very embarrassed to introduce myself as sunny at work.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 15/08/2015 11:14

You think it is daft to think about the impact of a name on your child? Okaaaaay.

spanisharmada · 15/08/2015 11:23

I really like it, the only thing that would put me off is it sounds so similar to Bonnie (which is also a fab name)

mummyplus7 · 15/08/2015 11:25

It's a bit hippy 70s for me.
I think it's a jinx name and you would end up with a really sour tempered teenager.

woodleydoodle · 15/08/2015 11:35

It is nice as a nickname. Really don't like it as a given name, too hippy-ish. Mind you, I dislike Bonnie. I'm northern and to me, it means pretty/attractive. I think it would be a difficult name for a 'plain' child to carry.

TheNewStatesman · 15/08/2015 11:37

You may like quirky fun names, but don't you think your daughter's feelings are the ones that should be considered?

Call her Sophie or Sarah or whatever and keep Sunny as a nickname. I can guarantee she'll opt out of it at some point.

Like others, I would assume a rather silly boy's nickname if I heard it.

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 11:40

Of course I'm taking into consideration the impact a name would have.....but I'm not going to pick a name just in case she's miserable of a skin cancer specialist...that's just odd. I like reading everyone's opinion but generic ordinary names I hear everyday are boring to me, I would be happy to have a name like sunny, each to there own :)

Good job my Bonnie is gorgeous and full of character then :) her name suits her perfectly.

Not keen on Sunny. Love Belle.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 15/08/2015 11:55

Bonnie is an established name though in a way Sunny isn't (at least in the UK).

Sunny isn't like Bonnie. It is more like Rainbow or Leaf.

MadameJosephine · 15/08/2015 11:56

I'm not keen I'm afraid it makes me think of a boy's name too. Love your other names though. How about Honey instead? I think Coco would go really well with your others too

Capewrath · 15/08/2015 12:01

I think Belle goes brilliantly with Lola and Bonnie, and is A beautiful name in its own right.

I don't like Sunny nearly so much, save as a possibly nn, because it makes me think of Sunny Delight. Soz.

Live your muddle names too.

Capewrath · 15/08/2015 12:02

Middle, fgs.

If you wanted to keep the White feeling, with shininess, how about Bianca or Blanche?

Capewrath · 15/08/2015 12:04

Pps, love Sunny as a nn for Susanna as above

IWantDogger · 15/08/2015 12:10

I'm sure I had an Alba stereo - wasn't it Argos' own cheap brand or something?

BoskyCat · 15/08/2015 12:11

Rofl at "she couldn't be a skin cancer specialist"

It's a bit like "Happy" as a name, lovely and everything but what if they turn out to be a bit of a grump with a great line in sarcastic put-downs?

I do like Belle and all your middle names though. Belle Beatrix is cool.

SheHasAWildHeart · 15/08/2015 12:21

Hi don't know if this has been mentioned but Sunny is a popular Indian nickname short for Sundip and other similar names. If I saw it written down my first assumption would be that it was referring to an Indian boy.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 15/08/2015 12:27

That is a good point. I have just remembered I knew a Sunil whose close friends called him Sunny.

lullabelle85 · 15/08/2015 12:30

That is something I've considered and I also don't want it to be shortened but those would be the only things that would potentially change my mind, we love the name and nothing is topping it for us yet.

You do realise this is a human being we're talking about, not a Labrador?
