All other 3 daughters have names that I find on the 'nature name' threads or 'unusual name' threads. I think they're different but not too "out there".

We're considering Meredith this time, what are the general thoughts on this.. I've had one comment which I expected but it's not put me off.

I think Meredith is a grower. It's lovely, got a nice sound and flow. Not out of place in the current generation of Marthas and Ediths. Merry could be a cute nickname.

I like Merry too, DH wanted Merida to which eldest dd said "like the Disney princess" Hmm so Meredith is my compromise

It is a grower. My sil is one and I never really got the appeal but now I think it's lovely, it's a very elegant name. She gets Mere as a nickname.

It's a nice name, and since it has "Mere" in it, you have some nickname options that you can steal from "Mary." Smile

I love it! Wouldn't shorten it though (I have a ten letter, three syllable name which is never shortened).

We have one in the family shortened to Mere or Meri. Tbh even with the Disney connotations I think Merida is quite cool.

I have one and her name often receives positive comments, nn is Merry.

It must be a very mn name though, there were 3 of us with merediths on an usual names thread. Not met one in rl yet. Her name will never be on gift shop products but at least no one muddles her up with other children at school.

I prefer Merryn. I've got a thing against names ending in 'th'.

I've got one and she is gorgeous! I love her name. I like that it is unusual but that people pronounce it correctly first time.
