Hello, im 14 weeks so I have no idea whether this baby is pink or blue yet! For a boy we have pretty much decided on Corey Zachary but for a girl im liking the name Alanis. What do you think?

I'd think of Alanis Morisette but then I'm pretty old Grin

I like it!

Elena and Alanna are quite similar, if you like those.

I like it but prefer Alannah Smile

I know an Alanis and she is the loveliest girl you could ever meet, so I'm very positively disposed towards it Smile.

First thought - Alanis Morrissette. I would assume you named DD after her as I've never heard the name in any other context. MUCH prefer Alannah.

I love Alannah too! Yes Alanis Morissette was the inspiration for the name I must admit. Thanks everyone for your quick responses!! :D

It's nice, but I always veer away from Alana/Alanis type names because never sure if it'd be pronounced Al-annis or Al-arnis. And suspect it depends on the individual saying it. And it'd annoy me if people I know say it differently from me.

LumpyCustard69 · 12/08/2015 16:16

I love Alyssa. Alanis is nice, always sends my thoughts straight to Morissette, but too similar to Alan for me.

lightgreenglass · 12/08/2015 16:23

Alanis Morissette was my first thought, I like her music but her lack of understanding of irony puts me off the name.

scatterthenuns · 12/08/2015 20:52

Morisette... its an unusual name and she is the only point of reference for it.
