This is a name me and DH like - we were always set on naming our son Bertie after our grandparents - but I literally looked this up and DH prefers this name.

Our children have nick names that end in the 'ee' sound so I am not sure if Magnus would be too strong a name iykwim

I have a soft spot for Magnus, I think it's strong and masculine but not over the top, I much prefer it to Bertie which reminds me of Bertie beetle and bert from sesame street.

CrystalMcPistol · 10/08/2015 11:51

Love it. Much better name than Bertie which to me will always be nice but dim Bertie Wooster.

nauticant · 10/08/2015 11:53

An excellent name. Classic, uncommon, good associations.

jugglingmonkey · 10/08/2015 11:54

Love it. Strong, unusual (but not in a new/trendy way). Go for it!

I love this name. Would be on my list if dh didn't associate it with the wrestler. Much prefer to Bertie. It's good to break the mould with the rhyming nicknames. I like the idea of Magpie as a nickname personally.

CakeRattleandRoll · 10/08/2015 15:04

Love it. nn Mags

hawkmcqueen · 10/08/2015 16:16

Love it, very masculine.

My cat's name Wink

It means great. So I think it is a great name, op! Go for it!

I have a gorgeous little Magnus. Easy to spell, a strong name. He has never had a nickname, apart from a classmate who thinks his name is Magnet....:)

HahaHarrie · 10/08/2015 18:31

Awesome name! (bias...)

HahaHarrie · 10/08/2015 18:32

CorBlimeyTrousers · 10/08/2015 19:19

I love it. Husband has vetoed :(

purplemurple1 · 10/08/2015 19:27

I don't really like it but I live in scandinavia so know shit loads of them, you kid may not always live in the UK. Some are nice some not none are particularly masculine.

SmugairleRoin · 10/08/2015 20:38

Don't particularly like it. I'd use it for a Great Dane, not a child.

I don't think it's hideous, mind, just not doing it for me.
