Ned, Finley, Tom or...?

Boys names are hard! Being a teacher makes it harder still. I am drawn to Ned as its less popular, not Edward, just Ned, but do like Tom and Finley despite their popularity. Any other suggestions?

I like Tom if short for Thomas. Can't understand the popularity of Finley.
