What do you think of the name Faisal pronounced (Fye Saul )for a boy.
If you watch channel 4 news there is a reporter with this name. It is an old Arabic name. I like it but is unusual.

I used to work with a Faisal, I always really liked the name.

Just a normal name round here- well when DS was at school that is. It's fine and people will spell and say it correctly.

( assuming you have an arabic background - it might be thought very unusual for a red headed scottish lad!)

I teach a lot of Faisals, and they seem to pronounce it more Fiezul (if that makes sense).

Common here in the ME. I'd only use it if you have Arabic connections though.

Yes my dh is Arab.. He is not middle eastern but then he wants a name which is a bit different in his country as well.

He wants it pronounced with an amphatic s but English speakers don't do emphatic letters.

I only know one, but pronounced Fay-zul.
