Lara or Eva?

Any thoughts on the two potential names above? To go with a long(ish) surname but no middle name. It appears we like names that end in the letter 'A'.

Thanks Smile

I like Lara & I know an adult Lara, I prefer it to Eva which is all over the place at the moment along with Evie :)

Vernazza · 22/07/2015 08:50

Eva all the way.

familysizepack · 22/07/2015 08:52

Definitely Lara. Lots of Evas around so its a bit nice and different. :)

OhahIlostmybra · 22/07/2015 08:59

Like them both but prefer Lara. It would be on our list too did it not end in same sound as our DD's name.

fruitbat2008 · 22/07/2015 09:03

I love the name ClaraSmile

Ahemily · 22/07/2015 09:04

Love both - Eva just tops it IMO (but only because I once knew a Lara who wasn't very nice)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/07/2015 09:07

Lara, gorgeous name. Makes me think of a cool teen, or feisty attractive professional like a doctor or teacher. (!)

Not so keen on Eva.

Only1scoop · 22/07/2015 09:09

Lara

Have a similar short name for dd with no middle name and really long surname.

I really like both but slightly prefer Lara. It seems Eva is more popular although I've only come across one where I live in London. That may not bother you in any case!

AccordingToOurRecords · 22/07/2015 09:16

Eva to me is an elderly woman with white overly coiffed hair, a heavily powdered face ( imagine kissing a marshmallow goodnight) and the heady aroma of Charlie with a top note of piddle. My Grandmother!!! I don't like biddy names personally but if you like then use it Smile

Sophronia · 22/07/2015 11:13

Lara. I like Eva but the Eva/Evie/Evelyn names are just so popular at the moment.

Neednewflowers · 24/07/2015 18:55

Prefer Ava, much softer sounding.

Paddingtonthebear · 24/07/2015 18:57

Lara. Or even better, Lana.

Yarp · 24/07/2015 18:59

Lara

or Lana

Or Leah

Yarp · 24/07/2015 19:00

or Emma

neolara · 24/07/2015 19:00

I have a Lara and I think we've only ever met 2 others.

DoNotDenyMe · 24/07/2015 20:21

Lara

florascotia · 24/07/2015 20:32

Eve/Evie/Eva/Ava all very popular.

Lara less popular. I very much prefer the full version of the name, Larisa.

HuftysTrain · 27/07/2015 08:19

Really don't like Lara. To my northern ears it sounds like a Mancunian saying Laura.

MamaLazarou · 27/07/2015 08:46

Lara! There are already too many Evas. How about Lana?

Diggum · 27/07/2015 08:59

Lara.

But totally agree with fruitbat; Clara is exquisite.

Chimpola · 27/07/2015 12:32

Lara definitely.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/07/2015 17:52

Eva
