Peony as a middle name

To go with Francesca and in honour of a relative.

Is peony a bit...naff? A bit pretentious?

Due today and suddenly very aware that im not set on a middle name for possible dd!

I really like it but it does remind me of the 5 year engaged (film) where they talk about the flower shop lady liking peonies but they're actually being rude...
it's a very pretty though!

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/07/2015 12:55

My very favourite flower but my inner 9 year old just hears 'penis-y'.

DoloresLandingham · 21/07/2015 13:49

Might be a bit much for a first name but I really like it for a middle.

Thanks everyone :)

Francesca would definitely be first, it's the only name we agree on!

I'll see what Dp says when he gets home, I doubt he'll go for it but might be swayed by the family connection!

What about Pivoine? (the french version I think)

Puffykins · 21/07/2015 15:47

Peony - pee on me..... Is what DH said when I suggested it for DD. It's super pretty though, and my favourite flower.....

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 21/07/2015 15:59

How is it pronounced

Junosmum · 21/07/2015 17:03

Love it. Also love the flower.

PallasCat · 21/07/2015 17:04

Lovely!

MishMooshAndMogwai · 21/07/2015 21:42

Well it got a resounding no from Dp who simply responsed with 'peo-nis'

Ah well! Thankyou for all the lovely comments Flowers

Ah shame your dp doesn't like it.tbf I quite liked it till I read all the willy references to it on this thread!

consuleo · 23/07/2015 02:34

It might do as a middle name. Though I've been put off by the comments and I'm not easily swayed

Neednewflowers · 24/07/2015 18:42

Not a pretty sound. Prefer Posy.
