If your surname were something like Robertson/ Morrison/ Peterson, would you choose Helen/ Osian? Or would you steer clear because of the repeated 'un' sound?

No, it still sound fine imho. Two of my dc names end in y as does our surname.

No, I think it sounds fine. A three-syllable surname gives enough space between the two similar sounds.

Helen sounds fine with those surnames.

But with Osian, the "o" vowel at the start as well as the "un" sound at the end, could be too much if your surname also has an "o" vowel near the start.
