Vivienne

I've just found out that I'm pregnant and I'm starting to think about names- early days obviously, but can't help it!

My mother died almost exactly a year ago and, while we had a really difficult relationship due to mental illness, I'd like to acknowledge her in some way. My DD (4) already shares her middle name, but it's just something I'd like to do again really. My partner knows about my difficulties with my mother, and I doubt he'd be happy with her name being used too blatantly. My Dad divorced my mother and he's a big part of our lives, so he'd probably find it hard too.

So, is there a variant or a part of the name I could use? The name is Vivienne.

Thank you!

I love it. Very elegant Smile

Fabienne?

Mynd · 18/07/2015 13:38

Me too, I really do. But I can't use it as it is. Just wondered if there was any variant, or name that had a similar feel (i.e. began Vi or Ve) that I could use as a nod without it being too in-your-face for my partner and father.

Thank you!

Venetia ?

MamaLazarou · 18/07/2015 15:31

Vivi? Vida?

Mynd · 18/07/2015 15:49

I like Vida a lot. No-one would think Ricky Martin, would they? Grin

I seem to remember Veda being a Northumberland saint or something....

Also like Vivi, but it's sadly way too close, I think. Venetia is very pretty.

Verity

Viva.

It means life which seems a pretty positive statement especially in terms of the troubled relationship you had with your mother.

PunkAssMoFo · 19/07/2015 16:05

Not beginning with V, but Genevieve?

scarletforya · 19/07/2015 16:08

My favorite girls name of all time. So feminine. Genevieve a close second, so that's what I suggest!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 19/07/2015 16:34

Oh it's nice, pretty and elegant plus Vivi is nice as a nn

Mynd · 19/07/2015 16:58

Oh that's a lovely idea! Definitely adding Genevieve Smile
