Do Lyla and Effie go?

Hi! Not posted on here before so please be gentle!!
My daughter is called Lyla and we've just found out we're expecting another girl. Me and hubby both like Effie but I'm not sure the two names go? Any thoughts?
My first choice of girls name would be Neve and I think Lyla and Neve go really well but hubby has a cousin with a daughter called Neve (who we see once in a blue moon) and im not sure if that's aloud!

Yes you are allowed to use the same name as your cousin's child

I'm not a huge fan of Effie but if it works for you, then go for it.

Lyla and Effie have a similar vibe if that's what you mean. Neve, I would also use in your case.

Much prefer Neve, it's stronger and more elegant and defined. Effie reminds me of a dustpan and brush.

If you like Neve, could you go with Niamh? Same pronunciation.

I love Effie!!! Would have considered it if DS had been DD but DH doesn't like it. it goes fine but does it really matter in any case? They'll be known for most of their lives as individuals not as siblings so IMO this isn't very relevant. How would you pronounce Neve? Like Niamh or like Nev? If it's the former then I prefer that spelling personally, haven't come across Neve but perhaps it's a completely different name to Niamh?

Is Effie short for something? It doesn't sound like a name iyswim.

It's short for Elizabeth.

It's also, less usually, been used as a nn for Stephanie.

Neve is my daughters name. I still love it just as much three years on. I have a friend who has a Lyla and a Neve so they are obviously meant to be sisters names! :)

Our Neve is pronounced the same as Niamh. We haven't had any pronunciation or spelling issues.

Effie is a nickname for Euphemia. I don't like it, as it sounds rather lumpen, like heffalump! Much prefer Faye, the other traditional shortening for Euphemia. The third is Phemie, said Fay-me. I'm not keen on that either.

I really like Effie. (Incidentally, the only Effies Ive known were both actually short for Effua.)
