I love Meg but would like a longer name for the birth certificate (I do like a Sunday best name Grin ) but am not a fan of Margaret or Megan. Any other names that could be shortened to Meg?

Megara?

IAmAPaleontologist · 16/07/2015 19:24

i can't think of any! i suppose you could use other names derived from Margaret as a bit of a tenuous excuse such as Greta.

dd is a Margaret who gets Daisy mostly or Meg, Megglepeggle, Megglemouse, all sorts really Grin .

Magdalena?

Morag?

Thanks for the responses Smile

Nothing floating my boat so far...but my favourite out of these is Morag. Not sure I like it enough, iyswim.

I knew a Meredith nn Meg.

I like Meg on its own and it was a strong contender for our dd. I don't like any of the longer names (except Megan but far too popular for us).

If you don't like Megan or Margaret, I'd just go for Meg, otherwise the connection gets too tenuous.

I know a Meg whose initials spell Meg. So you could have something like Martha Elizabeth Grace, with Meg for short.

I suggested Megan to dh as I said 'it sounds wholesome, like nutmeg'. He replied that he prefers Nutmeg!

LemonYellowSun · 18/07/2015 19:34

I like Meg on its own. Stick with that.

ihearttea · 18/07/2015 19:36

Megatron

HappydaysArehere · 18/07/2015 19:41

Meg is lovely and you will be able to introduce her to Little Women.

reuset · 18/07/2015 20:20

Little Women Meg was Margaret, Meg, or Margaret, Daisy.

Megan, although well established, always feels unfinished to me too.

Go with Megatron, OP Grin

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 18/07/2015 23:11

Megatron is really pretty. It's feminine but strong. It certainly wasn't on my radar.

I like the fact it works internationally as well as the UK.

Search is over.

Grin
