My DH likes Clara I like Beth ......what are your thoughts on combining them into Clara-Beth (I don't want our child to sound like a hillbilly Confused)

It does sound a bit like a character off The Waltons....
Clara is a lovely name. Clara with Beth as middle name?

Cloggal · 16/07/2015 18:31

think I prefer it as one word Clarabeth, or Clara Beth (but then she would only be called Clara usually). I prefer Clara as a name to Beth.
Clarabel? (Might be a wee bit Thomas The Tank Engine but hey...)

PotteringAlong · 16/07/2015 18:32

Definitely no hyphen!

TheMeaningOfLifeIs42 · 16/07/2015 18:33

Yeah thats what I was worried about :/ I just cant see me calling out Clara across the playground (if that makes sense) I think its back to the drawing board

Clara is beautiful, Clara-Beth suddenly sounds a bit naff

Beth as a middle name would be fine, or Elizabeth would be better

Tetleys · 16/07/2015 18:34

I'd get used to it. There is a name Clarabel I think, so Clarabeth wouldn't be a massive challenge.

villainousbroodmare · 16/07/2015 18:35

Doesn't appeal to me. I'm not sure if it sounds more prissy or more hilbilly.

TheMeaningOfLifeIs42 · 16/07/2015 18:35

Is it bad I'm hoping for team blue because we agree on a boys name Grin

It doesn't appeal to me at all, I'm sorry. I'd think hillbilly. Or wimpy heroine from a Dickens novel.

Clara Elizabeth is very nice though.

PotteringAlong · 16/07/2015 18:44

I like Clara Elizabeth too.

TheMeaningOfLifeIs42 · 16/07/2015 18:49

Elizabeth Clara? Known as Beth ?

Lovely as two separate names. Why not just do that?

SingForBacon · 16/07/2015 19:38

I love it! I'm generally not a fan at all of hyphenated names but Clara-Beth is lovely :)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 16/07/2015 22:02

Yes. It's lovely. It just rolls off your tongue

ashesandfire · 16/07/2015 22:29

I love Clara. I love Beth. But no to Clara-Beth. Sorry.

clarabellski · 17/07/2015 10:52

I love it!

waits for folk to notice nickname

reuset · 17/07/2015 11:05

Spoil two lovely names by adding a hyphen! Why not have them separate

reuset · 17/07/2015 11:07

Yes. Elizabeth Clara. Perfect!

ch1134 · 17/07/2015 11:33

I like it.

littlejohnnydory · 17/07/2015 21:46

I knew a L ara - B eth. She always went by Lara and didn't really use the full version. I love Clara and quite like Beth separately but not really as a double barelled name - bit Country and Western.
