Unusual middle names

I'm so bored with May/e, Rose, Grace etc. I have a middle name like this (but of my time) and it feels dull as dishwater.

So, I'm viewing a middle name as an opportunity to use the names that I'm not brave enough to use as first names. So far my list consists of:

Aldous
Amos
Atticus
Errol
Ford
Paris
Rocco
Rollo
Valentine
(DH is legitimately desperate to add Danger in there too!)

Coral
Hero
Opal
Rio
Scout
Venus

Faves from my list?
Do you have any out there/brave names you like that I could get away with as a mn?

Is your middle name Jane or Louise by any chance?!

I love Opal and Rocco!

Stoppissingonthefloor · 03/07/2015 21:37

GinUpGirl · 03/07/2015 21:37

My DD's middle name is Ace outs self

GinUpGirl · 03/07/2015 21:39

DH likes Rocco and Rollo together, as a nod to Rock and Roll. I despair!

It's v cool to have an unusual middle name. I have never met anyone with the same name as my middle name (except my aunt who I was named after - won't say it as it will put me) and it's always been 'well' received with appreciative noises! When I was younger I wished it was my first name (very ordinary). So a great idea I think and I like pretty much all of your choices, especially Aldous.

Ikeameatballs · 03/07/2015 21:43

I don't like Aldous or Paris but the rest are cool.

Others:

Thor
Xander
Axel
Mercury

Emerald
Unity
Araminta
Wanda

GinUpGirl · 03/07/2015 21:44

Wanda is awesome. Have just stumbled upon Pearl too, which I love. Love so much it may go on the first names list.

On the theme of fairy god parents, Cosmo is great too.

My mates son is Samuel Danger K.., he's a handsome 18 yo now so I think it's cool.

My dd has a boring mn as it was both of dh's grandmothers name. I wish I'd done the unusual thing.

mummy0bummy · 03/07/2015 21:46

I know someone who has Maverick as a middle name Hmm

Elfina · 03/07/2015 21:46

Ace, it really is, isn't it?!

Stoppissingonthefloor · 03/07/2015 21:46

Twin nieces middle names are rapunzel and gretel!

Ratbagcatbag · 03/07/2015 21:47

Love atticus, hero and scout.

Completely outs self, dh is very traditional but if I'd had a boy then the middle name would have been chase. My dd got savannah. As he didn't want a middle name I figured I could call them what I wanted.

mummy0bummy · 03/07/2015 21:47

Also know a middle name Midnight (yes really).

Elfina · 03/07/2015 21:47

We were going to have Cosmo for a boy Smile

GinUpGirl · 03/07/2015 21:48

These are all so excellent. I knew a girl with the middle name Vulnavia at school - not to my taste, but the bravey always stuck with me!

Hero is my choice for dc3s middle name. :)

mummy0bummy · 03/07/2015 21:50

Now I have this in my head, thanks OP.

mummy0bummy · 03/07/2015 21:52

What about a middle initial? Then the child can choose his or her own name later on.

I knew a Tosca (first name) but he hated it so much that he changed it as a child.

GinUpGirl · 03/07/2015 21:53

Have to admit, that heavily influenced Rio's entry on my list mummy.
