Unisex names?

We currently have a Jaime Sky and new baby (sex unknown) is due in first week of Sept.

I really like having a unisex name and it suits our daughter/family perfectly - so I'd quite like to continue the 'theme'.

Any suggestions?

A friend of mine has a little girl names Dylan, which I think is a love unisex name.

Some really lovely names here, thank you

I especially like Dylan and Charlie. Never heard Dylan as a girl's name before but I like it!

Frankie is on my list already, as are Alex, Stevie and Corey. Smile

There is nothing unisex about Jaime Sky though. Jaime is a girls name that is not the same name as Jamie, for a boy. Sky is also a girls name.

There are very few actual unisex names. A recent american trend for using boys names for girls is not exactly the same thing.

AccordingToOurRecords · 03/07/2015 16:26

Dylan is a boys name and so is Rowan, using male names for girls doesn't make them unisex, just means you gave your daughter a boys name.

almapudden · 03/07/2015 16:32

I know a female Stevie, it really suits her.

NomiMalone · 03/07/2015 16:35

Love love love Dylan for a girl.

Also really love Stevie (Nicks, what's not to love) and Frankie.

My favourite unisex names are Vivian and Morgan. Prefer them both for boys though.

there are the ones with slightly different spelling for boy and girl: Lesley/Lesley, Frances/Francis, Robin/Robyn.

The only names I can think of where I genuinely wouldn't associate them more with one sex are Taylor (Swift vs Lautner!) Rowan, Morgan. Most other "unisex" names I definitely associate more with one sex, so it is more giving a "boys" name to a girl, or vice versa (though girls names for boys happens much much less frequently, but don't get me started on that!!)

Something natural like Bay or River?

My Mum went down this route for all 3 of us and we are: Alexandra (Alex), Charlotte (Charlie) and Alastair (Ali). Although my brother was meant to be Harriet/Harry but they had a change of heart at the last minute!

Dylan is a boys name and so is Rowan, using male names for girls doesn't make them unisex

I know a female Rowan in her late 40s.
One of the main characters in the books by Antonia Forest from the 1940s onwards is a female Rowan.

In modern usage it is both a male and female name. That's unisex to me.

Esme isn't unisex! And the likes of Hialry, Evelyn and Vivian haven't been for at least 50 years.
