Would you be upset if your sister named her daughter Lisa?

We were told it was a boy and now all of a sudden that may be wrong and we're looking for girls names. We both like Lisa though, must not sure about what my sister will think!

I think of Lisa and Elisabeth as separate names. She'd have to have a real chip on her shoulder to be bothered by it. Surely it could even be a compliment if she wanted to see a connection between the names?

Another one who thinks of Lisa as completely different from Elisabeth (and although I'm not an Elizabeth, my dsis is).

If you'd chosen Elise, Liza or Eliza though I'd have wondered if you'd been influenced by my name - whether that's to honour me indirectly or just because you've been around it for so long it's got brainwashed into you!

I think of them as two separate names. The Elizabeths I know use the nn of Beth and Libby and I would not associate Lisa as a nn.

I've never really thought of Lisa as a nn for Elizabeth. Mugabe if it was Liza.

Although there is a clear connection between the names, I would imagine that Lisa is a relatively uncommon nn for Elisabeth/Elizabeth. I can't see that it's an issue unless your sister is known as Lisa. And I can't see why it would upset her. Still, you know her and I don't.

Just to be clear that my sister has never to my knowledge been called Lisa, but between various friendship groups Ellie, Lissie, Betty, mostly Betty these days. In the family she is mostly known as Elisabeth. Elisabeth is also a 4 th generation family name on my dads side so I suppose I make the connection myself a little bit.

I suppose I should have a little conversation with her if it is a girl!
