Hey all, I'm 39 weeks preggers and need some advice on our shortlist. We've got:

Joni
Romy
Rosanna (nn Rosa)

DS is called Casper, and our surname rhymes with 'oh', so very short.

Our choice for middle name will either be Iris or a combo of Iris Jean, which are both family names.

Would be lovely to hear your thoughts on fave name, and also open to any other suggestions. We are a very indecisive ma and pa here...

Cheers!

I have a very lovely friend called Joni so i am biased. Always felt her name was very cool. I also have a dd called Iris!
Saying that I think Joni Jean Oh rolls off the tongue better than Joni Iris Oh!

Good luck choosing. It is something i find really hard and have never decided until my dcs are a few days old!

Love Joni

swimmerforlife · 02/07/2015 08:53

My favourite is Romy, a very pretty name.

I quite like Rosa just on its own, really not keen on Rosanna.

Not fussed on Joni either, makes me think of Joni Mitchell.

Suggestions:
Wren
Elise
Sadie
Emilia
Alexa

Romy is nice and fine in its own right, though I also like it as short for Romilly or Romola

mygreeneyedboy · 02/07/2015 11:22

I like iris Jean as the first and then middle name. Smile

cosmicglittergirl · 02/07/2015 11:24

Rosanna.

Zakken · 02/07/2015 11:36

Rosanna is lovely and more adaptable than the other names. Rosa and Anna are both elegant short forms.

I quite like Romy but isn't it going to sound a bit like Romeo with the surname (I realise the surname isn't actually Oh, but still ...)

Don't like Joni. Apart from Joni Mitchell, it makes me think of this mawkish 70s song

Love Jean as a middle name, goes with almost everything.

Sophronia · 02/07/2015 12:50

Rosanna

birchwoods · 02/07/2015 14:28

I was just about to say that Zakken! Same with Joni?

CakeRattleandRoll · 02/07/2015 16:34

My favourite is Rosanna, but Joni is quite cool too.

ashesandfire · 02/07/2015 16:38

Really like Rosanna, lots of nn potential too. I like Romy as a nn for Romilly. Not keen on Joni

Thanks for all your feedback.

Just to give you a heads up, my favourite is Romy but my husband isn't the biggest fan and is pushing Joni all the way. The thing is it was our go-to name if our son ended up being a girl (we didn't find out gender the first time around) so in a funny way I feel weird using it this time around for this sweet girl. Plus it isn't pulling at my heart strings like it did before.

I like all the 'Rose' names but didn't want to go with Rosie or Rose as a nn, and unfortunately we aren't that into Romilly and my hubby isn't into Rosamund (I really like it). We both like Rosemary but hate the way they pronounce it here in the States (we are recent expats). Rosanna seems to be a good alternative, though there isn't any connection to Romy- hence 'Rosa' being in the mix.

Ah dilemmas all around! Maybe we shall just have to meet her and then decide from there? That's what we ended up doing with Casper...

Romana could be another option.

Or .... I don't think it's too much of a stretch to get Romy from Ramona.

autumnmoon · 05/07/2015 23:39

Joni is a fabulous name.

sweetpeame · 06/07/2015 17:22

100% Rosanna! The other names pale in comparison! Beautiful name and underused.

MamaLazarou · 06/07/2015 17:23

They are all lovely but especially Joni.

FunkyPeacock · 06/07/2015 17:26

Rosanna is my favourite especially to go with a single syllable surname
