Middle name for Clara?

Hello - new to the board waves I'm pregnant with #2 due in December. Don't know the sex yet but if it's a girl Clara is the favourite at the minute. Two middle names I like so far are Elizabeth and Astrid. Any ideas to add to those? Thanks :-)

Clara is one of my favourite girl's names, and so's Elizabeth, so I couldn't better that.

Clara Grace is elegant.

Zakken · 28/06/2015 17:40

I wouldn't use a name that starts with a vowel, because it's awkward with the 'a' ending of Clara. Something like Clara Louise or Clara Marie flows well, as do Clara Louisa and Clara Maria. But of course it depends on how the surname sounds too.

I love Clara Belle for some reason. Clara grace is also lovely.

Madamacadamia · 28/06/2015 18:02

Noelle if close enough to Christmas.

ohlordyplordy · 28/06/2015 18:09

We are due a dd in 4 weeks, who will be Clara Joan :)

Tanito279 · 28/06/2015 18:13

My first thought was Clara Belle! Coincidence lol. I love it.

Clara is a beautiful name.
I don't think Clara Astrid works, it sort of ends up merging into one word: Claraastrid - which sounds like a medicine.

Clara May
Clara Louise
Clara Rose

I don't think the middle name should begin with a vowel.

Clara Beatrice

Clara Harriet

Agree middle name shouldn't start with a vowel or an R, and it shouldn't end in another A. Not sure about Clara Belle. It sounds like Clarabel as in 'Annie and...', which are Thomas the Tank Engine's coaches (2 x DSs). The other suggestions sound lovely to me. Clara Noelle for a December baby is a nice idea.

Hi Ohlordy- recognise you from July thread- love Clara Joan. Just gorgeous.

HuftysTrain · 28/06/2015 19:45

You almost never say both names together so I don't see why it would have to flow verbally. My first name ends in a vowel and my middle starts with one. Not a problem so far. Clara Elizabeth is beautiful as is Clara Juliet (CJ being very cool initials somehow).

Hadron21 · 28/06/2015 19:47

Clara Elizabeth. I'd be tenpted by Clara Beatrice too.

ohlordyplordy · 28/06/2015 20:21

Hello raines! Thank you; Joan is after my mum :)

CrispyFern · 28/06/2015 20:32

I like Elizabeth.
I like Astrid too, but I think Elizabeth goes better.
How about -

It doesn't have to flow perfectly, it's just a middle name, not often said together in full, you don't need follow any rules (unless it clashes for some reason or sounds too similar)

Belle sprang to mind for a middle, though I suspect I was thinking of Clarabel and so can be ignored Grin

CrispyFern · 01/07/2015 10:52

I don't like another name ending in a after Clara. It makes it sound a bit like a nun. Sister Clara Maria.

But that is possibly a weird thought so don't mind me!

MrsPeeee · 12/07/2015 08:27

Thank you all so much. I've only just seen all these wonderful replies. I'm a total mumsnet apparently and must have hidden them somehow Hmm

Lots to looj through thank you! I do like Belle but my sister used it for her ds. Rude.

Noelle is pretty!

Clara Jane

Blondie87 · 14/07/2015 10:55

If my next is girl I've had my heart set on Clara Grace. I think it sounds beautiful.

fionadal · 14/07/2015 20:37

Clara is a gorgeous name!

Agree with everyone who said the middle name shouldn't start with a vowel.

And maybe avoid Rose and Grace because everyone seems to use them as middle names.

One-syllable or three-syllable names not ending in -a sound good with Clara IMO.

Clara Penelope
Clara Beatrice
Clara Gillian
Clara Jennifer

Clara Jean/Joan
Clara Jill
Clara May

turdfairynomore · 14/07/2015 20:38

Clara Natalie -keeping with the Xmas theme!

Unoriginalusername123 · 14/07/2015 22:07

Clara Madeleine
Clara Beatrice
Clara Briony / Bryony
