I picked my first sons name and agreed my partner could choose our newborns name. Whenever I say it to friends & family I get a blank look lol so just wanted some views. Smile

Khalif (also Khalifa) has a very specific meaning in Islam: Successor to the Prophet Muhammad and leader of the Muslim government. www.islamic-dictionary.com/index.php?word=khalif

Since 2014, Khalif/Khalifa is the title used by the leader of ISIS/ISIL/the Islamic State.

It is also the name of the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi.

It is definitely a muslim/arabic name.

I've never heard it before.

Is it Ka-leef or Car-liff?

I like the first but not the second.

Rossy01 · 29/06/2015 14:19

It's pronounced as the first one ka leef Smile

If you are Muslim, use it. If not, think twice.

As millymollymama said, if that name is part of your culture go ahead. If not I'd find it rather odd.
